The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.

Arrest, RPG Theft & Poss Under (IPV)– CK26007361

Date: January 29, 2026, Time: 17:18 hrs., Location: Lafontaine Street, Wallaceburg

On January 28, 2026, at approximately 10:00 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a theft related to a domestic dispute at a residence in Wallaceburg.

Investigations revealed that a verbal altercation occurred between a 40-year-old female accused and a 56-year-old male victim, both from Wallaceburg. During the incident, the accused confiscated property belonging to the victim before leaving the residence.

Officers formed reasonable grounds to charge the accused with the following offence:

  • Count 1: Theft Under $5,000

A warrant was subsequently issued for her arrest.

On January 29, 2026, at approximately 17:18 hrs, the accused was located on Lafontaine Street, Wallaceburg, with the property belonging to the victim. She was arrested on the strength of her outstanding warrant and was additionally charged with the following offence:

  • Count 2: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

 The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where she was released with conditions and a scheduled court date of March 4, 2026.

Arrest, MVC/Impaired – CK26007400

Date: January 29, 2026, Time: 17:18 hrs., Location: Glasgow Line, Tupperville

On January 30, 2026, at approximately 17:18 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to an automatic crash alert regarding a single-vehicle motor collision on Glasgow Line, Tupperville.

Upon arrival, officers located a truck that had left the roadway and struck a tree, coming to a stop at approximately 10 feet down an embankment, near a river.

The lone driver, a 29-year-old male from Dresden was located nearby. Emergency Medical Services attend the scene and assessed the driver who declined transportation to the hospital.

The individual displayed signs of impairment and officers formed reasonable grounds to arrest him. He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters for further breath testing, where he provided two samples above the legal limit.

The accused was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused was later released with conditions and a scheduled future court date of February 18, 2026.

Arrest, Mischief – CK26007472

Date: January 29, 2026, Time: 23:11hrs., Location: Dufferin Avenue, Wallaceburg

On January 29, 2026, at approximately 23:11 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a disturbance at a business on Dufferin Avenue, Wallaceburg.

Investigations revealed that staff requested that an individual leave the premises. During the interaction the individual became upset and activated a fire alarm inside the business.

Officers located the individual, identified as a 43-year-old female from Chatham-Kent, nearby who displayed signs of impairment. Officers formed reasonable grounds to arrest the individual.

The accused was charged with the following offence:

  • Count 1: Mischief

She was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where she was released with conditions and a scheduled future court date of February 23, 2026.

Arrest, Bail Violations – CK26007415

Date: January 29, 2026, Time: 19:22hrs., Location: St. Clair Street, Chatham

On January 29, 2026, at approximately 19:22 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a breach of conditions at a business located on St. Clair Street, Chatham.

Investigations revealed that a 28-year-old male from Chatham, who was bound by conditions not to attend the location, had entered the store.

The individual was located nearby and as a result of the investigation, he was arrested and charged with

  • Count 1: Fail to Comply with Undertaking

The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he is currently held for bail.
