The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.
Weapons – CK26006810
Date: January 27, 2026, Time: 18:13 hrs, Location: Canal Street West, Tilbury
On January 27, 2026, at approximately 18:13 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a weapons related incident at a residence on Canal Street West, Tilbury.
Investigations revealed that there was an ongoing neighbour dispute involving a 42-year-old male from Tilbury, who was intoxicated and armed with a machete.
Upon arrival, officers learned that the individual had damaged a door while making threats towards a resident, in an attempt to gain entry.
As a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested and charged with the following offence:
- Count 1: Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Count 2 Mischief Under $5,000
- Count 3: Breaking, Entering, and Committing an Indictable Offence
- Count 4: Assault With a Weapon
The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he is currently held for bail.
Warrants – CK26006780
Date: January 27, 2026, Time: 16:05 hrs., Location: Talbot Street West, Blenheim
On January 16, 2025, a victim, a 35-year-old female from Chatham, attended a financial institution in Blenheim and inadvertently left her debit/credit card in an automated teller machine. The card was subsequently used without authorization to make multiple in-person and online fraudulent purchases over several days.
As a result of the investigation, a 48-year-old female accused from Blenheim, was arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
The accused was charged with the following offences:
- Fraud Under $5,000 x 14
- Use of a Credit Card Obtained by Crime x 14
- Theft of a Credit Card
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x 14
The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where she was released with conditions and a court date of March 3, 2025. However, the accused failed to attend court and a warrant was subsequently issued for her arrest.
On January 27, 2026, at approximately 16:05 hrs., the accused was located on Talbot Street West, Blenheim. She was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant. The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where she is currently held for bail.
Traffic Stop– CK26006720
Date: January 27, 2026, Time: 16:52 hrs., Location: Wellington Street West, Chatham
On January 27, 2026, at approximately 16:52 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service conducted a traffic stop on Wellington Street West, Chatham
As part of the investigation, officers confirmed that the driver, a 70-year-old female from Harwich Township, was operating a motor vehicle while under suspension.
As a result, the driver was issued two Provincial Offence Notices and charged with the following offences:
- Driving While Under Suspension
- Fail to Surrender Insurance Card
The vehicle was subsequently towed from the scene. The individual was released at the scene and is scheduled to appear in court on March 11, 2026.
