The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.
Warrants – CK26005402
Date: January 22, 2026, Time: 00:29 hrs., Location: Fork Street, Wallaceburg
On August 22, 2025, at approximately 10:39 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of theft involving a stolen bicycle. The victim, a 17-year-old male from Wallaceburg, had bank cards and personal documents inside the bicycle’s basket at the time of the theft (CK25050524).
The bicycle was later located unattended at a park; however, the victim’s belongings were not recovered.
Further investigations revealed that the victim’s credit card was later used at a business on Dufferin Avenue, Wallaceburg.
After reviewing surveillance footage from the business, the accused was identified as a 38-year-old male from Chatham-Kent.
Officers formed grounds to charge the individual with the following offences:
- Count 1 – Unauthorized Use of Credit Card
- Count 2 – Unauthorized Use of Credit Card
- Count 3 – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
Subsequently, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On January 22, 2026, at approximately 10:39 hrs, the accused was located on Fork Street, Wallaceburg. He was arrested on the strength of an endorsed warrant. The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he is remanded in custody until his next video court appearance on January 23, 2026.
Traffic Enforcement – CK26005328
Date: January 22, 2026, Time: 00:29 hrs., Location: Dufferin Avenue, Wallaceburg
On January 22, 2026, at approximately 00:29 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service conducted a traffic stop on Dufferin Avenue, Wallaceburg.
Investigations revealed the driver, a 34-year-old male from Wallaceburg, was operating a motor vehicle while under suspension.
As a result, the driver was issued a Part III Summons for Driving While Under Suspension under the Highway Traffic Act.
Theft – CK26005423
Date: January 22, 2026, Time: 12:42 hrs., Location: Queen Street, Chatham
On January 22, 2026, at approximately 12:42 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of theft at a local business on Queen Street, Chatham.
Investigations revealed that the accused entered the store and stole a large quantity of merchandise before leaving the business without paying.
Through the use of surveillance footage, the accused was identified as a 45-year-old female from Chatham.
The accused was later located on King Street West, Chatham where she was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Count 1 – Theft under $5,000
- Count 2 – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
She was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where she was released with conditions and a scheduled future court date of February 24, 2026.
Weapons – CK26005505
Date: January 22, 2026, Time: 18:38 hrs., Location: Indian Creek Road West, Chatham
On January 22, 2026, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of assault at a residence on Indian Creek Road West, Chatham.
Investigations revealed that an 18-year-old female victim from Chatham, attended the residence and became involved in a physical altercation with two individuals. During the incident the victim was assaulted several times and her personal items were taken. Threats were also made to her during the encounter. The victim was able to leave the residence but required medical attention.
Officers attended the residence and located both accused. As a result of the investigation a 40-year-old female and a 40-year-old male, both from Chatham were arrested.
The female accused was charged with the following offences:
- Count 1: Robbery with Violence
- Count 2: Assault
The male accused was charged with the following offences:
- Count 1: Pointing a Firearm
- Count 2: Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Count 3: Assault with a Weapon
- Count 4: Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
- Count 5: Assault Cause Bodily Harm- Choke, suffocate and strangle
- Count 6: Assault
Both individuals were transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where they are currently being held in custody for bail.
