The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.
Warrants/IPV – CK26003067
Date: January 13, 2026, Time: 15:54 hrs, Location: Chatham Street, Blenheim
On January 12, 2026, at approximately 14:39 hrs Chatham- Kent Police responded to a report of a historical intimate partner assault that occurred on October 31, 2025.
Investigations revealed that the assault occurred between a 41-year-old accused from Harwich Township and a 48-year-old victim from Chatham. Further investigations also revealed that there were historical assault incidents where injury was received.
Officers formed grounds to charge the accused with the following offence:
- Count 1: Assault
A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.
On January 13, 2026, at approximately 15:54 hrs, the accused was located and arrested by Chatham-Kent Police on Chatham Street, Blenheim. He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was later released with conditions and a scheduled future court date of February 23, 2026.
Theft – CK26003108
Date: January 13, 2026, Time: 20:46 hrs, Location: St. Clair Street, Chatham
On January 13, 2026, at approximately 20:46 hrs, Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a theft in progress at a retail store located on St. Clair Street, Chatham.
Investigations revealed that a loss prevention officer observed two female suspects actively concealing merchandise while inside the store. Officers attended the location and located both suspects, a 54-year-old female and a 28-year-old female, both from Chatham.
Further investigation revealed that multiple items of merchandise had been concealed and removed from the store without payment. All items were recovered and returned to the store.
Both the accused were charged with the following offences:
- Theft Under $5,000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
The individuals were transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where the 48-year-old female accused is currently held for bail and the 28-year-old accused was released with conditions and a scheduled court date February 23, 2026.
Failure to Comply – CK26003114
Date: January 13, 2026, Time: 21:02 hrs, Location: Grand Avenue West, Chatham
On January 13, 2026, at approximately 21:02 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of an unwanted individual at a medical facility on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.
Investigations revealed that an individual had attended the facility without a legitimate medical appointment or emergency, breaching his probational order, which prohibited attendance at the location except for valid medical reasons.
Officers located the individual, a 34-year-old male from Chatham-Kent and, as a result of the investigation, charged him with the following offence:
- Count 1: Failure to Comply with a Probation Order
The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he is currently being held for bail.
