The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.

Theft – CK26002798

Date: January 12, 2026, Time: 12:39 hrs.  Location: St Clair, Chatham

On January 12, 2026, at approximately 12:39 hrs, Chatham-Kent Police Service officers responded to a report of a theft at a business located on St Clair, Chatham.

Investigations revealed that a 30-year-old male from Walpole Island attended the business, opened an alcoholic beverage and began consuming it inside the store. He was directed by employees to leave the premises; however, the accused later returned, selected merchandise and exited the store without making a payment.

Officers located the accused a short distance away and arrested him. He was charged with the following offences:

  • Count 1: Theft Under $5,000
  • Count 2: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he is currently being held for bail.

Warrants/IPV – CK26002805

Date: January 12, 2026, Time: 13:10 hrs, Location: Tilbury

On January 3, 2026, at approximately 14:37 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a reported domestic dispute involving a 32-year-old female accused and a 27-year-old male both from Tilbury.

Investigations revealed that a verbal dispute escalated into a physical altercation, during which the accused assaulted and forcibly confined the victim.

A warrant was issued for her arrest.

On January 12, 2026, at approximately 13:10 hrs, officers located the accused at a residence in Tilbury. She was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Count 1: Assault
  • Count 2: Forcible Confinement

The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where she was released with conditions, including no contact with the victim. She was provided a scheduled court date of February 23, 2026.

Unwanted Person – CK26002930

Date: January 12, 2026, Time: 23:53 hrs, Location: Grand Avenue, Chatham

On January 12, 2026, at approximately 23:53 hrs, Chatham-Kent Police Service officers responded to a report of an unwanted customer causing a disturbance at a business on Grand Avenue, Chatham.

Investigations revealed that the individual was yelling, throwing items and refusing to leave the premises.

As a result of the investigation, the accused, a 39-year-old male from Chatham-Kent was arrested for the following:

  • Trespass to Property

The accused was also formally trespassed from the business and was released with a Provincial Offences Notice (PON). 

Warrant – CK26002887

Date: January 12, 2026, Time: 21:26 hrs, Location: Semenyn Avenue, Chatham

On March 31, 2025, at approximately 13:54 hrs, Chatham-Kent Police Service officers responded to a complaint of property damage on Wellington Street, Chatham.

Investigations revealed that an accused from Harwich Township had thrown stones in the direction of a parked vehicle, causing damage. The accused left the scene after the offence.

Through the use of surveillance footage, the accused was identified as a 30-year-old female from Harwich Township.

As a result of the investigation, officers formed grounds to charge the accused with the following offence:

  • Count 1 – Mischief Under $5,000

A warrant was issued for her arrest.

On January 12, 2026, at approximately 21:26 hrs, the accused was located on Semenyn Avenue, Chatham and was arrested on the strength of an endorsed bench warrant. She was released with conditions and a scheduled future court date of February 9, 2026.
