The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.

Arrest, Warrants – CK26009202

Date: February 5, 2026, Time: 10:30 hrs., Location: Grand Avenue West Chatham

On January 19, 2026, at approximately 12:06 hrs., Chatham-Kent Polic Service responded to a report of theft at a retail store located on Wellington Street West, Chatham (CL26000044).

Investigations revealed that an accused entered the store and selected several items, concealed them and then exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items.

Through the use of various investigative methods, the accused was identified as a 33-year-old female from Chatham.

Officers formed grounds to charge the accused with the following offences:

  • Count 1: Theft Under $5000
  • Count 2: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

Subsequently a warrant was issued for her arrest.

On February 5, 2026, at approximately 10:30 hrs., the accused was located at Grand Avenue West, Chatham. She was arrested on the strength of her outstanding warrant. The accused was transported to the South West Detention Center where, she is remanded in custody until her next video court appearance on February 9, 2026.

Bail Violations – CK26009379

Date: February 5, 2026, Time: 23:04 hrs., Location: King Street West, Chatham

On February 5, 2026, at approximately 23:04 hrs., while conducting foot patrol in the downtown core of Chatham, Chatham-Kent Police Service officers observed a male inside the vestibule of a financial institution on King Street East, Chatham.

During the investigation, the individual was identified as a 33-year-old male from Chatham-Kent who was in violation of his court-imposed probation conditions.

Further investigation also revealed that the individual was subject to two active probation orders that prohibited him from attending the financial institution.

As a result, the accused was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Count 1: Fail to comply with probation order section
  • Count 2: Fail to comply with probation order section

The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he is currently held for bail.

Traffic Stop– CK26009256

Date: February 5, 2026, Time: 14:40 hrs., Location: Queen Street, Chatham

On February 5, 2026, at approximately 14:40 hrs., Chatham-Kent Police Service Officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle and determined that the driver, a 55-year-old female from Blenheim, did not possess a valid driver’s licence.

A result of the investigation, the driver was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for driving without a licence. The individual’s licence was seized at the scene and the vehicle was towed.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind all motorists that driving without a valid licence is an offence and puts both the driver and the public at risk.
