The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.
Arrest, Warrants – CK26000812
Date: February 3, 2026, Time: 00:18hrs., Location: King Street West, Chatham
On February 3, 2026, at approximately 8:02 hrs., Chatham-Kent Police Service officers responded to a report of property damage at a residence on King Street West, Chatham (CK26008765).
Through the review of CCTV footage, a male accused was seen attending the building and damaging a doorbell/intercom system before leaving the area.
Through further investigation, including the review of surveillance footage, the accused was identified as a 39-year-old male from Chatham-Kent.
Officers formed grounds to charge the accused with the following offence:
- Count 1: Mischief – under $5,000.00
Subsequently, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
At approximately 00:18 hrs., the accused was located by the Chatham-Kent Police Service on King Street West, Chatham. He was arrested on the strength of his outstanding warrant. The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was released with conditions and a future court date.
Traffic Stop – CK26008757
Date: February 3, 2026, Time: 18: 28 hrs., Location: Princess Street South, Chatham
On February 3, 2026, at approximately 18: 28 hrs., a Chatham-Kent Police Service conducted a traffic stop on Princess Street South, Chatham.
During the investigation, officers confirmed that the driver, a 47-year-old male from Chatham, was operating a motor vehicle while under a valid driver’s licence suspension. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle was unsafe, improperly plated and not properly documented.
As a result, the driver was issued five Part III summonses for the following offences:
- Driving while suspended
- Operating an unsafe vehicle
- Not a valid permit
- No insurance card
- Using Unauthorized plates
Due to the violations the vehicle was towed from the scene.
Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind all motorists of the importance of ensuring they are properly licensed, insured and operating safe vehicles in compliance with provincial laws.
Arrest – CK26008773
Date: February 3, 2026, Time: 19:15 hrs., Location: London Road, Thamesville
On February 3, 2026, at approximately 19:15 hrs., the Chatham Police Service responded to a report of a male running on the roadway while intoxicated on London Road, Thamesville.
Officers located the individual, a 36-year-old male from Thamesville, after observing behaviour consistent with public intoxication. For public safety reasons, the male was arrested.
He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was released when sober with a Provincial Offence Notice.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind residents that public intoxication can pose serious safety risks to both the individual involved and those around them.
Motor Vehicle Collision – CK26008761
Date: February 3, 2026, Time: 17:53 hrs., Location: Keil Drive Bridge, Chatham
On February 3, 2026, at approximately 17:53 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a single vehicle collision on Keil Drive Bridge, Chatham.
Emergency services were called after a vehicle struck a curb, causing it to overturn. The vehicle came to a rest upside down on the bridge.
Police, Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Medical Services attended the scene. The driver, a 25-year-old female from Harwich Township who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, was able to exit the vehicle and was found to be in stable condition. As a precaution, the driver was transported to hospital for additional medical care. No serious injuries were reported.
There was no structural damage to the bridge. Traffic in the area was temporarily affected and the roadway was reopened shortly thereafter.
Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind motorists to drive with caution, especially when travelling on bridges and elevated roadways.
