The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.
Weapons- CK26013957
Date: February 24, 2026, Time: 08:58 hrs., Location: St. Clair Street, Chatham
On February 24, 2026, at approximately 08:58 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a threat involving a weapon in the parking lot of a business located on St. Clair Street, Chatham.
Investigations revealed that a verbal altercation occurred between two individuals, a 19-year-old male accused from Wallaceburg and a 26-year-old male victim from Chatham. The accused brandished a knife at the victim while attempting to enter the victim’s vehicle and uttering threats. The victim was unharmed in this incident.
Upon arrival, officers located the accused sitting in his vehicle. During a search incident to arrest, officers located an 8” knife in a sheath affixed to the belt of the accused. A second knife, identified as a prohibited weapon, was located within the vehicle.
Subsequently, the accused was arrested and charged with the following:
- Count 1: Uttering Threats
- Count 2: Possession of Weapons for Dangerous Purposes
- Count 3: Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon or Restricted Weapon
The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was later released with conditions and a future court date of March 25, 2026.
Fail to Comply – CK26013978
Date: February 24, 2026, Time: 10:36 hrs., Location: Wallaceburg
On February 24, 2026, at approximately 10:36 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a disturbance report at a residence in Wallaceburg.
Upon arrival, officers located a 28-year-old male from Inwood who was bound by a peace bond prohibiting him from communicating with a 23-year-old female occupant.
The accused was arrested and charged with the following offence:
- Count 1: Breach of Recognizance
The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was later released with conditions and a future court date of March 30, 2026.
Conditional Sentence Order – CK26014135
Date: February 24, 2026, Time: 02:29 hrs., Location: McNaughton Avenue, Wallaceburg
On February 24, 2026, at approximately 20:29 hrs., Chatham-Kent Police Service officers conducted a traffic stop on McNaughton Avenue, Wallaceburg for a highway Traffic Act Violation.
During the stop, the driver pulled into a parking lot and refused to exit the vehicle or provide identification.
The driver was subsequently identified as a 43-year-old male from Leamington who was subject to a Conditional Sentence Order with a condition of house arrest. He was also wanted by the Ontario Provincial Police in Essex, Windsor and London.
Following negotiations by phone, the individual surrendered peacefully and was arrested. A search incident to arrest led officers to a switchblade, methamphetamine, cocaine and a quantity of cash.
As a result, the individual was charged with the following:
- Count 1: Flight from a Peace Officer
- Count 2: Obstruct Peace Officer
- Count 3: Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Count 4: Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Count 5: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Count 6: Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Count 7: Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to a Probation Order
- Count 8: Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to a Probation Order
- Count 9: Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to a Probation Order
- Count 10: Fail to Comply with Probation Order
- Count 11: Driving While Under Suspension
The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he is currently held for bail.
