The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 72 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.
Break and Enter – CK26013001
Date: February 20, 2026, Time: 16:33 hrs., Location: Wallace Street, Wallaceburg
On February 20, 2026, at approximately 12:06 p.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a suspicious person at a residence on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg.
Further investigations revealed that a male was observed entering the residence and leaving shortly after.
Upon arrival, officers conducted a search of the exterior of the residence and located an insecure rear window. Given that no one was authorized to be inside the dwelling, officers entered and conducted a search of the home. During the search, police located a 66-year-old male from Wallaceburg hiding inside.
As a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested and charged with the following:
- Unlawfully in a Dwelling House
He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and later released with conditions and a scheduled future court date of March 25, 2026.
Warrants – CK26012958
Date: February 20, 2026, Time: 19:12hrs., Location: O’Neil St. Chatham
On April 30, 2025, at approximately 2:40 p.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a theft at a retail store on O’Neil Street, Chatham.
Investigations revealed that a 20-year-old complainant from Chatham had loaned his phone to a friend to make a purchase inside the retail store. While inside, the phone was temporarily set down. During this time, a female suspect took the phone and left the premises.
Through the use of surveillance footage and additional investigative methods, the accused was identified as a 48-year-old female from London.
During her interaction with officers, the woman admitted to taking the phone. The device was not recovered.
As a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested and charged with:
- Theft Under $5,000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
The accused was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and later released with a court date that she failed to attend. Subsequently, a warrant was issued for her arrest.
On February 20, 2026, at approximately 19:12 hrs., the accused was located on O’Neil St. Chatham. She was arrested on the strength of her outstanding warrant. The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters, where she was released with conditions and a scheduled future court date of March 23, 2026.
Warrants – CK26012974
Date: February 20, 2026, Time: 10:15hrs., Location: Third St. Chatham
A 71-year-old female accused from London knowingly defrauded an 80-year-old female from Chatham of approximately $100,000 by falsely representing that she required money to cover costly and experimental medical treatments. The Fraud occurred between the period of 2018 and 2024 (CK24003180).
On September 16, 2025, the accused voluntarily surrendered at Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters. As a result of the investigation, the accused was charged with the following offence:
- Fraud Over $5,000
She was later released with conditions and a future court date of October 6, 2025, which she failed to attend. Subsequently, a warrant was issued for her arrest.
On February 20, 2026, the accused was arrested on Third Street, Chatham on the strength of her outstanding warrant. She was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where, she was released with conditions and a future court date of March 23, 2026.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service encourages residents, particularly seniors and their families, to remain vigilant about financial exploitation and to report any suspicious activity.
Warrants – CK26013226
Date: February 21, 2026, Time: 10:46 hrs., Location: Lacroix St. Chatham
On April 2, 2025, a 50-year-old male accused from Chatham entered into a Probation Order with conditions that included not attending health facility on Grand Avenue West, Chatham, except for medical emergencies or pre-scheduled medical appointments.
On July 14, 2025, the accused attended the property in violation of his probation conditions. A security officer approached the accused and asked him to leave. During the interaction, the accused became verbally aggressive and began making threats. The accused then drew back his fist in a threatening manner, indicating an intention to strike the security officer.
Police later located the accused on Emma Street in Chatham. The individual was charged with the following:
- Failure to Comply with a Probation Order
- Assault
The accused was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was released with conditions and a future court date which he failed to attend. Subsequently, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On February 21, 2026, the accused was located on Lacroix St. Chatham and was arrested on the strength of his outstanding warrant. The accused was later released with a future court date of March 3, 2026.
MVC – CK26013295
Date: February 21, 2026, Time: 10:46 hrs., Location: Longwoods Road, Camden Township
On February 21, 2026, at approximately 5:14 p.m., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to reports of a motor vehicle collision on Longwoods Road, Camden Township.
Officers received multiple calls from motorists reporting that a vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree. Two occupants were inside the vehicle at the time of the collision.
Emergency Medical Services attended the scene and transported a 21-year-old female driver to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A 17-year-old passenger was assessed by EMS at the scene and did not require additional medical attention.
As a result of the investigation, the driver was issued a Provincial Offences Notice for careless driving.
IPV – CK26013413
Date: February 22, 2026, Time: 3:50 hrs., Location: Wallaceburg
On February 22, 2026, at approximately 3:50 hrs., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of an intimate partner violence incident in Wallaceburg.
Investigations revealed that a verbal dispute had occurred between a 62-year-old male accused and a 62-year-old female victim both from Wallaceburg. During the dispute, the accused made several threats toward the victim, including threats to cause bodily harm and death. The incident further escalated when the accused physically assaulted the victim by striking her multiple times.
The accused was arrested and charged with the following offence:
- Count 1: Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
- Count 2: Assault
The accused was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was released with conditions and a scheduled future court date of April 21, 2026.
Break and Enter – CK26013612
Date: February 22, 2026, Time: 12:29 hrs., Location: Harvey Street, Chatham
On February 22, 2026, at approximately 12:29 hrs., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to reports of a break and enter in progress at a residence on Harvey Street, Chatham.
Police received multiple calls from residents reporting the sound of breaking glass and observing an individual attempting to gain entry into a residence.
Investigations revealed that the suspect was in possession of a large axe and had broken a rear window before entering the home. Further investigations revealed that the suspect had attempted to gain entry through the front door by knocking and banging but was unsuccessful. Significant damage was observed at the property.
Officers located the accused, a 31-year-old male from Chatham-Kent inside the residence.
As a result of the investigation, he was charged with:
- Count 1: Break and Enter
- Count 2: Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
The accused was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he was released with conditions and a future court date of May 14, 2026.
