The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.
Arrest, Impaired- CK25078412
Date: December 30, 2025, Time: 17:06 hrs, Location: Margaret Avenue, Wallaceburg
On December 30, 2025, at approximately 17:59 hrs, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a motor vehicle collision on Margaret Avenue in Wallaceburg.
Investigation revealed that while an officer was conducting a traffic stop, a wheel detached from a passing vehicle and struck a marked police vehicle causing damage. No injuries were reported.
As part of the investigation, officers identified the driver of the vehicle from which the wheel detached as a 46-year-old male from Wallaceburg. The driver displayed signs of impairment and officers formed grounds to demand a breath sample from the driver, who failed an Approved Screening Device (ASD) test.
The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he provided two breath samples, both resulting in failures. He was charged with the following offences:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released with conditions and a scheduled future court date of January 12, 2026.
Arrest, Warrants – CK25078422
Date: December 30, 2025, Time: 18:32 hrs, Location: Lacroix Street, Chatham
On December 28, 2025, at approximately 12:52 hrs. police were dispatched to a local lodging establishment in the downtown area in Chatham in relation to a reported theft.
The investigation revealed that a vehicle parked in a rear parking lot had been entered overnight and items were stolen.
Through the use of surveillance footage, the accused was identified as a 28-year-old female from Chatham-Kent.
Officers formed reasonable grounds to charge the accused with the following offences:
- Count 1: Theft Over $5,000
- Count 2: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
A warrant was issued for her arrest.
On December 30, 2025, at approximately 18:32 hrs, the accused was located and arrested on Lacroix Street, Chatham for the outstanding warrant. She was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where she was released with conditions and a schedule court date of February 3, 2026.
