Date: December 3, 2025, Time: 8:47 hrs., Location: Churchill Park Road, Chatham
On December 3, 2025, at 08:47 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a fire at on Churchill Park Road in Chatham. Officers arrived to find a ground-floor unit with a shattered patio door and evidence of a fire believed to have originated from patio furniture.
Firefighters confirmed the fire was extinguished upon their arrival, and no alarms were activated. Witness statements indicated a male was seen defecating on the patio shortly before the incident. Police were able to identify the suspect through surveillance videos obtained from the area.
At 09:34 hrs, a 46-year-old Chatham-Kent man was located and arrested for arson and an indecent act. He was transported to police headquarters and is currently being held for a bail hearing.
Theft/Probation Breach- CK25072718
Date: December 3, 2025, Time: 12:53 hrs., Location: Wellington Street W, Chatham
On December 3, 2025, at approximately 12:53 hrs, Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a theft at a retail store located on Wellington Street West in Chatham. The store manager recognized the female, who was known to be under a probation order prohibiting her from attending the premises.
The woman was observed selecting various bottles of alcohol and concealing them with a coat and blanket. She made no attempt to pay for the items.
At approximately 13:03 hrs officers arrived on the scene and arrested the 31-year-old Chatham-Kent woman for failing to comply with probation, theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime. She was transported to Chatham-Kent Police headquarters, where she is currently being held for a bail hearing.
Impaired Driving – CK25072776
Date: December 3, 2025, Time: 19:16 hrs., Location: Langstaff Line, Wallaceburg
On December 3, 2025, at approximately 19:16 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a vehicle driving through a ditch and into a field on Langstaff Line in Wallaceburg.
Officers arrived on the scene and located the man on Forhan Street. Officers suspected the man to be under the influence of alcohol and issued a breath demand, which resulted in a failure.
The 74-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for further testing. As a result, he has been charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. The man was later released on a Form 10 with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on December 23, 2025.
