The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 72 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.
Impaired Operation – CK25074733
Date: December 12, 2025, Time: 22:55 hrs, Location: Webb Street, Chatham
On December 12, 2025, at approximately 22:55 hrs, a Chatham-Kent Police Service officer observed a suspicious vehicle driving on Webb Street, Chatham. The vehicle then turned northbound and quickly and aggressively accelerated.
A traffic stop was initiated and the driver, a 46-year-old male from Chatham, displayed signs of being impaired. The individual was arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters for further breath testing, where he provided two samples above the legal limit.
He was charged with the following offences:
- Impaired Operation
- Operation While Over 80 mg
The accused was later released with conditions and a future court date of December 30, 2025. He was also served a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and his vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.
Assault (IPV)- CK25074758 / CK25074769
Date: December 12, 2025, Time: 23:46 hrs, Location: Chatham
On December 12, 2025, at approximately 23:46 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence inChatham.
Upon arrival, officers located a 27-year-old male from Chatham-Kent and a 32-year-old female from Chatham inside the residence, with both parties observed to have visible injuries. Additional medical assistance was not required.
Following an investigation, both individuals were arrested and charged with the following offence.
- Count 1: Assault
The individuals were transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where the female accused was released with conditions and a scheduled future court date and the male accused is currently held for bail.
Impaired Operation/Over 80- CK25074765
Date: December 13, 2025, Time 00:07 hrs, Location: Middle Line, Blenheim
On December 13, 2025, at approximately 00:07 hrs, a Chatham-Kent Police Service officer conducted a traffic stop on Middle Line, Blenheim.
Following the stop, the driver, a 27-year-old male from Raleigh Township, provided a breath sample into an Approved Screening Device, which registered a fail.
He was subsequently arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters for further testing. Breath samples were obtained, registering readings exceeding the legal limit.
As a result, the accused was charged with:
- Impaired Operation
- Operation While Over 80 mg
The individual was later released with conditions and a scheduled future court date of December 30, 2025.
Impaired Operation/Over 80- CK25074766
Date: December 13, 2025, Time 00:12 hrs, Location: Margaret Avenue, Wallaceburg
On December 13, 2025, at approximately 00:12 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Servicereceived areport of a possible impaired driver, from theSarnia Police Service, in the area ofMargaret Avenue, Wallaceburg.
Officers located the vehicle and stopped the driver as he pulled into a driveway. The driver, a 21-year-old male from Port Lambton, attempted to run into the residence but was apprehended by officers.
Following the investigation, officers formed grounds that the driver was impaired by alcohol. He was conveyed to police headquarters for further testing, which he refused.
As a result, the individual was charged with:
- Operation while Impaired- Alcohol and drugs
- Resist Peace Officer
- Failure or refusal to Comply with Demand
The accused was later released with conditions and a scheduled court date of December 29, 2025.
MVC / Impaired Operation – CK25074938
Date: December 13, 2025, Time: 19:14 hrs, Location: Erieau Road, Charing Cross
On December 13, 2025, at approximately 19:14 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Erieau Road, Charing Cross.
Investigations revealed that a vehicle involved in a collision and was found unoccupied at the scene. Officers subsequently located a 25-year-old male from Charing Cross a short distance from the crash with visible injuries. As a result of the investigation, officers formed grounds to arrest the individual for impaired operation and issued a breath demand.
The 25-year-old male from Charing Cross was assessed by EMS and transported to hospital for treatment. While at the hospital, he was able to provide breath samples, which registered readings exceeding the legal limit.
As a result, the individual was charged with:
- Impaired Operation While Impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation While Over 80 mg
- Fail to Remain
- Fail to report accident
- Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
He was later released with conditions and a future court date.
Indecent Act – CK25074947
Date: December 13, 2025, Time 20:38 hrs., Location: King Street West, Chatham
On December 13, 2025, at approximately 20:38 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a call from a complainant reporting an indecent act in the lobby of an apartment building located on King Street West, Chatham.
Upon arrival, officers located a 33-year-old female from Chatham-Kent inside the lobby of the Boardwalk apartment building who was observed to be in a state of undress. As a result of the investigation, the female was arrested for the following offence:
- Indecent Act
She was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where she was released with conditions prohibiting her from attending the location and a scheduled future court date of January 7, 2026.
Warrants – CK25074948
Date: December 13, 2025, Time: 20:39 hrs., Location: Fifth Street, Chatham
On October 8, 2025, at approximately 10:59 a.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a theft at a retail store on Grand Avenue West, Chatham.
Investigations revealed that an individual had exited the business without attempting to pay for merchandise, leaving the items behind in the parking lot and fled on foot. Officers arrived in the area shortly after and located a 33-year-old male from Chatham matching the provided description nearby.
During the investigation, the male admitted to stealing the items. All stolen items were returned to the business.
As a result, the individual was arrested and charged with:
- Theft Under $5,000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
He was later released with conditions and a future court date of November 20, 2025, which he failed to attend. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
On December 13, 2025, at approximately 20:39 hrs, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service located the accused at a residence on Fifth Street, Chatham.
The male was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Failure to Attend Court. He was Transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service where he was released with a future court date.
Warrants – CK25075177
Date: December 15, 2025, Time: 00:39 hrs., Location: Queen Street, Tilbury
On June 6, 2025, a 24-year-old male from Chatham-Kent was convicted of Failing to Attend Court and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000. He was sentenced to 12 months of probation.
As part of his conditions, the accused was required to report in person to a probation officer however, he failed to report as required on July 24, 2025.
The accused was subsequently charged with the following offence:
- Failure to Comply with Probation
A warrant was issued for his arrest.
On December 15, 2025, at approximately 00:39 hrs, the accused was located on Queen Street, Tilbury and arrested on an endorsed warrant for Breach of Probation. He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was released with conditions and a scheduled future court date of January 28, 2026.
