The Chatham-Kent Police Service is proud to recognize Constable Justin Christian for his swift and decisive actions during a life-threatening emergency.
On June 1, 2025, at approximately 21:43 hr., CKPS responded to a report of a disturbance during which an individual had sustained a severe arm injury from an edged weapon.
Constable Christian arrived and was approached by the injured person, A 29-year-old male from Chatham, who was experiencing significant arterial bleeding. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, Constable Christian remained calm, reassured the individual and immediately applied a tourniquet. His actions controlled the bleeding until paramedics arrived and assumed care.
The investigation resulted in the arrest of a 26-year-old male from Chatham-Kent who was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a dangerous weapon.
While several CKPS members contributed to the successful outcome of the incident and subsequent investigation, Constable Christian’s composure, quick thinking and confident application of first aid made a critical difference.
In recognition of his outstanding actions, Constable Christian received a Board Citation for Lifesaving Measures from the Chatham-Kent Police Service Board.
