The Chatham-Kent Police Service is proud to recognize National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, taking place April 12-18, 2026, in honour of the dedicated professionals who serve as the first point of contact during emergencies.
When members of the public dial 911, they are connected to highly trained communicators who play a critical role in emergency response. These individuals are responsible for answering calls, assessing situations, providing life-saving instructions and dispatching police, fire and emergency medical services.
911 communicators operate in a fast-paced and demanding environment, often managing multiple calls at once while supporting individuals experiencing crisis, fear, or confusion. Their ability to gather accurate information and coordinate resources in real time is vital to successful outcomes.
Throughout the week, the Chatham-Kent Police Service will be sharing messages of appreciation and providing a behind-the-scenes look at the important work of its 911 team on social media.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service encourages members of the community to join in recognizing these professionals by following along online and sharing messages of support.
Every call matters. Every voice matters.
