On October 15, 2025, at approximately 20:14 hrs, Chatham-Kent Police Service officers observed an interaction between two individuals in a parking lot on Grand Avenue West, Chatham.
An investigation was initiated and officers attempted to speak with both parties involved. Upon approach, one of the individuals, a 19-year-old male from Chatham, fled the scene on foot while holding a bag in his possession. Officers initiated a brief foot pursuit after observing the suspect’s attempt to discard the bag while evading police.
Officers recovered the bag and a systematic search was conducted. The following items were located:
- 349 grams of Cocaine
- 1 Digital Scale
- A large quantity of Canadian currency
The total estimated street value of the seized drugs is approximately $35,000.
The suspect was located and arrested. He was charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
Further investigation revealed that the accused was bound by a release order with multiple conditions, which he was found to be in breach of. He was additionally charged with:
- Failure to Comply with Release Order x 3
The accused is currently in custody pending a bail hearing.
