The Chatham-Kent Police Service is proud to support Canada Road Safety Week that takes place from May 12–18, 2026.
Throughout the week, officers will participate in traffic enforcement initiatives and public awareness campaigns focused on keeping Chatham-Kent roads safe for all motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.
This national campaign, led by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, focuses on reducing dangerous driving behaviours, such as distracted driving, impaired driving, speeding, aggressive driving and seatbelt violations.
Road safety remains a shared responsibility and the Chatham-Kent Police Service encourages all members of the community to make safe and responsible choices behind the wheel.
During Road Safety Week, the public can expect:
• Increased traffic enforcement throughout Chatham-Kent
• Daily road safety awareness and educational social media posts
• Traffic safety tips and reminders
• Community engagement initiatives promoting safe driving habits
Drivers are reminded to:
• Put away distractions while driving
• Obey posted speed limits
• Never drive impaired
• Wear seatbelts at all times
• Stay alert and share the road safely
“Our goal is simple, to help prevent collisions, injuries and fatalities on our roads. Every safe decision made behind the wheel can make a difference,” said Acting Sergeant Lisa Rodger.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to thank the community for supporting road safety initiatives and helping keep Chatham-Kent roads safe for everyone.
Follow the Chatham-Kent Police Service on social media throughout the week for daily safety tips, awareness posts and community engagement content.
