On May 10, 2026, at approximately 14:08 hrs, Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by an eastbound passenger train in Chatham-Kent. The incident occurred on railway tracks in the area of Northwood Line. Despite emergency measures taken by the train operator, the individual, a 34-year-old male from Chatham, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Officers secured the scene and the Traffic Management Unit was called in to investigate and coordinate with railway police and the Office of the Chief Coroner as part of the investigation. The rail corridor was temporarily closed while investigators conducted their work, and the train was later permitted to continue.

There is no ongoing risk to public safety. Out of respect for the family, no further details will be released.
