On June 18, 2026, at approximately 22:49 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to an emergency call regarding a collision involving a pedestrian.

Investigators determined that a 49-year-old Chatham male was walking on Longwoods Road in Chatham, between Littlejohn Road and Zone Road 7, when he was struck by a westbound vehicle driven by a 54-year-old Thamesville woman.

The pedestrian sustained significant injuries as a result of this collision and was transported to Four Counties Health Services in Newbury before being airlifted to London Health Sciences Centre with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle, who was the sole occupant, was not injured.

Due to the severity of the injuries, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service Traffic Management Unit were called in to continue the investigation. The roadway remained closed overnight but has since reopened. This investigation remains open and ongoing.
