The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events, including arrests, investigations, and other notable occurrences.

FTS/Traffic Stop – CK25046920/22

Date: August 7, 2025, Time: 00:38 hrs, Location: St Clair Road, Chatham

On August 7, 2025, at approximately 00:38 hrs, Chatham-Kent Police Service officers observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed equating to 130 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.

Officers attempted to catch up to the vehicle; however, it was several kilometres ahead. Due to the distance, assistance from other units within the area was requested.

A coordinated effort led to the successful stop of the vehicle. The driver, an 18-year-old female from Chatham, was charged with the following:

  • Count 1: Stunt Driving

The individual was arrested and issued a Part 3 summons under the Provincial Offences Act (POA) for driving a motor vehicle while performing a stunt. The vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

As a result, her licence was suspended and the vehicle was towed. The driver was escorted to her residence.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind members of the public to obey the posted speed limits and to drive responsibly to ensure the safety of everyone on the roads.
