The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 120 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.
Bail Violations – CK26023127
Date: April 2, 2026, Time: 19:02 hrs., Location: McNaughton Avenue, Wallaceburg
On April 2, 2026, at approximately 19:02 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of theft at a retail store located on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.
Investigations revealed that a 44-year-old male from Chatham-Kent was in breach of a probation order, which included a condition prohibiting him from attending the business. The accused entered the store, collected merchandise and attempted to leave without paying, but was stopped by loss prevention staff.
After exiting the store, the accused proceeded to the bicycle rack outside and stole a customer’s bicycle before fleeing the area.
At approximately 19:33 hrs., police located the accused on Wallace Street in possession of the stolen bicycle. The bicycle was recovered. The victim declined to pursue charges in relation to the theft.
As a result of the investigation, he was arrested and charged with:
- Count 1: Fail to Comply with Probation Order
He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and was later released with conditions and a scheduled court date of April 3, 2026.
Break and Enter – CK26023410
Date: April 3, 2026, Time: 21:50 hrs., Location: Elizabeth Street, Chatham
On April 3, 2026, at approximately 21:50 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a break-and-enter incident at a residence on Elizabeth Street in Chatham.
The homeowner arrived home and observed signs that someone was inside the residence. Police attended and located an unknown female inside the home.
Investigation revealed the accused had entered the residence without authorization. The accused was found inside the home in possession of property belonging to the homeowner.
A 22-year-old female from Chatham-Kent was arrested and charged with:
- Count 1: Break and Enter – commit an indictable offence
She was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date.
Intimate Partner Violence / Breach of Release Order – CK26023417/CK26023422
Date: April 3, 2026, Time: 22:22 hrs., Location: Chatham
On April 3, 2026, at approximately 22:22 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a disturbance at a residence in Chatham.
Investigations revealed that a male and female, who were both bound by court-imposed conditions not to have contact with one another, were inside the residence together.
Officers attended and located both individuals inside the residence. Officers confirmed that the male was in breach of both a release order and a probation order.
As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old male from Chatham was arrested and charged with:
- Fail to Comply with Release Order
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
The second accused, a 23-year-old female from Chatham was arrested and charged with:
- Fail to Comply with Undertaking
The accused were transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where the male accused was later released with a scheduled court date of April 4, 2026. The female accused was released with conditions and a scheduled court date of April 13, 2026.
Assault – CK26023598
Date: April 4, 2026, Time: 16:45 hrs., Location: Sheldon Avenue, Chatham
On April 4, 2026, at approximately 16:45 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of an assault at a residence on Sheldon Avenue in Chatham.
Investigations revealed that a dispute between two individuals, a 45-year-old male from Chatham-Kent and a 63-year-old male victim from Chatham, escalated, resulting in the victim being struck multiple times in the face. The victim sustained injuries however, he refused additional medical attention.
Officers attended the residence and arrested the suspect. As a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested and charged with:
- Count 1: Assault
He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date.
Impaired Driving – CK26023628
Date: April 4, 2026, Time: 19:52 hrs., Location: McNaughton Avenue West and Sandys Street, Chatham
On April 4, 2026, at approximately 19:52 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a two-vehicle collision on McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham.
Investigations revealed that a 28-year-old female accused from Merlin, rear-ended another vehicle while the second vehicle was slowing to make a turn.
During the investigation, officers observed signs of impairment from the accused and was arrested. The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters for further testing, which resulted in readings above the legal limit.
As a result, the driver was charged with:
- Count 1: Operation While Impaired – Alcohol
- Count 2: Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80
She was later released with conditions and a future court date of July 14, 2026.
Break and Enter– CK26023877
Date: April 5, 2026, Time: 23:07 hrs., Location: Sherman Street, Blenheim
On April 5, 2026, at approximately 23:07 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a break and enter at a residence on Sherman Street in Blenheim.
Investigations revealed that a male, who had previously been told not to return to the residence, entered the home without permission. Officers attended and located the individual inside the residence.
As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old male from Chatham-Kent was arrested and charged with:
- Count 1: Unlawfully in a Dwelling House
He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date.
Intimate Partner Violence / Fail to Comply – CK26023794
Date: April 5, 2026, Time: 14:35 hrs., Location: Chatham
On April 5, 2026, at approximately 14:35 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to an intimate partner violence incident at a residence in Chatham.
Investigations revealed that a male, who was bound by court-imposed conditions not to contact or attend the residence, was inside the home. Officers attended and located the individual hiding inside a closet.
As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old male from Chatham was arrested and charged with:
- Count 1: Fail to Comply with Undertaking
- Count 2: Fail to Comply with Undertaking
The individual was transported to the South West Detention Centre where he is remanded until his next video court appearance scheduled for April 7, 2026.
Motor Vehicle Collision – CK26024056
Date: April 6, 2026, Time: 18:40 hrs., Location: St. Clair Street, Chatham
On April 6, 2026, at approximately 18:40 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a two-vehicle collision on St. Clair Street in Chatham.
Police learned that the collision occurred when one driver failed to stop at a red light, resulting in a collision with another vehicle. Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were deemed not drivable. No injuries were reported.
As a result of the investigation, a 35-year-old male driver from Chatham was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for failing to stop at a red light.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service reminds motorists to obey all traffic signals and remain alert while driving. Intersections are high-risk areas, and failure to stop at a red light can result in serious collisions.
Threats, Arrest – CK26023990
Date: April 6, 2026, Time: 10:52 hrs., Location: Lacroix, Chatham
On April 6, 2026, at approximately 10:52 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of threats at a financial institution on Lacroix Street in Chatham.
Investigations revealed that a 39-year-old male accused from Chatham entered the bank and had been asked to leave by staff. A 55-year-old male from Chatham who was known to the accused also asked him to leave.
The accused became confrontational and threatened to harm the victim as he exited the bank.
Officers located and arrested the male on Wellington Street West in Chatham.
As a result of the investigation, the accused was charged with the following:
- Count 1: Uttering Threats – Cause Death or bodily harm
He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he was later released with conditions and a future court date.
B&E Residence, Arrest – CK26024009
Date: April 6, 2026, Time: 12:38 hrs., Location: Hilda Avenue, Wallaceburg
On April 6, 2026, at approximately 12:38 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a break and enter in progress on Hilda Avenue in Wallaceburg.
Investigations revealed that a 36-year-old female accused from Windsor, attended the residence and forcibly entered through a basement window. Once inside the accused physically assaulted a 22-year-old female victim also from Windsor. The victim sustained minor injuries, and additional medical assistance was not required.
The accused was arrested and charged with the following:
Count 1: Break and Enter with Intent to Commit and Indictable Offence
Count 2: Assault
She was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where she was later released with conditions and a future court date.
