The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 72 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.
Assault – CK26025143
Date: April 10, 2026 Time: 16:32 hrs., Location: Gray Street, Chatham
On April 10, 2026, at approximately 16:32 hrs., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to an assault in the area of Gray Street in Chatham.
Investigations revealed that a 24-year-old victim from Chatham was walking on Gray Street in Chatham when she was approached by a male suspect. The male began yelling at the victim before knocking a hot beverage from her hand and striking her in the abdomen during the interaction. The woman did not sustain any physical injuries.
Officers located the accused, a 34-year-old male from Chatham nearby and arrested him. He was charged with the following:
- Count 1: Assault
The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date.
Theft – CK26025145
Date: April 10, 2026, Time: 16:37 hrs., Location: Lorne Avenue, Chatham
On April 10, 2026, at approximately 16:37 hrs.,an off-duty member of the Chatham-Kent Police Service observed suspicious activity involving a U-Haul truck in the alleyway behind Lorne Avenue in Chatham.
Investigations revealed that individuals were seen unloading suspected stolen property. Officers attended the area and located two men with the vehicle and property.
Two 47-year-old males from Chatham were arrested and charged with:
- Theft over $5,000
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
Both individuals were transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where they were later released with conditions and a future court date of July 10, 2026 and July 13, 2026.
Assault -CK26025174
Date: April 11, 2026, Time: 20:42 hrs., Location: Marlborough Street, Blenheim
On April 11, 2026, at approximately 20:42 hrs., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to an assault at a residence on Marlborough Street in Blenheim.
Investigation revealed that a 28-year-old male from Blenheim, had been assaulted by his roommate, a 32-year-old male accused from Blenheim, while inside their residence. The accused entered the victim’s room and struck him multiple times in the head while he was in bed. Emergency Medical Services attended and transported him to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for further assessment.
As a result of the investigation, the accused was charged with the following.
- Count 1: Assault
He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date of July 13, 2026.
Impaired Driving / Over 80 – CK26025486
Date: April 12, 2026, Time: 12:43 hrs., Location: Cairo Road, Bothwell
On April 12, 2026, at approximately 12:43 hrs., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service conducted a traffic stop in the area of Main Line and Cairo Road in Bothwell.
During the investigation, officers formed grounds to believe the driver, a 43-year-old male from Dawn Euphemia had consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) test was administered which resulted in a fail.
A 43-year-old man was arrested and transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters for further testing. The individual provided two breath samples registering above the legal limit.
Subsequently, he was charged with the following:
- Operation while impaired – Alcohol
- Operation while impaired – Blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released with conditions and a future court date of May 26, 2026.
Traffic Stop- CK26025517
Date: April 12, 2026, Time: 03:04 hrs., Location: Grand Avenue East, Chatham
On April 12, 2026, at approximately 03:04 hrs., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service conducted a traffic stop on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.
During the investigation, officers determined the driver was operating a motor vehicle while under suspension. As a result of the investigation, a 67-year-old Chatham man was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for driving while under suspension.

Mischief – CK26025618
Date: April 12, 2026, Time: 14:48 hrs., Location: Margaret Avenue, Wallaceburg
On April 12, 2026, at approximately 14:48 hrs., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a fire alarm being activated at a business on Margaret Avenue, Wallaceburg.
Upon arrival, officers learned that an accused had intentionally pulled the fire alarm, prompting an emergency response from fire services and that the individual had been detained by security prior to police arrival.
As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old female from Chatham was charged with the following offence:
- False alarm of fire under the Criminal Code
She was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where she was later released with conditions and a future court date of May 20, 2026.
Police Pursuit – CK26025536
Date: April 12, 2026, Time: 06:31 hrs., Location: Charing Cross Road, Chatham
On April 12, 2026, at approximately 6:31hrs., a Chatham-Kent Police Service officer conducting traffic enforcement, attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding on Charing Cross Road.
The vehicle initially pulled over but then continued driving as the officer positioned behind it. This occurred two additional times before the officer initiated a pursuit. The pursuit was immediately terminated in the interest of public safety.
Shortly afterward, the vehicle pulled over. The driver, a 62-year-old female from Chatham was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for speeding and a Fail to Stop (FTS).
The Chatham-Kent Police Service reminds motorists that failing to stop for police emergency lights is a serious offence and encourages drivers to pull over safely and immediately when directed by police.
Assault – CK26025698
Date: April 12, 2026, Time: 21:04 hrs., Location: Richmond Street, Chatham
On April 12, 2026, at approximately 21:04 hrs., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a reported disturbance at a business located on Richmond Street, Chatham.
Investigations revealed that an individual had been involved in a verbal altercation with an employee while in a drive-thru, which escalated into a physical confrontation at the service window.
As a result of the investigation, the accused, a 64-year-old male from Chatham was charged with the following:
- Assault
- Uttering threats- Cause Death and Bodily Harm
He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters where he was later released with a future court date of July 20, 2026.
