Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 130 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested, and one was on an outstanding warrant.
Youth Arrested for Weapon Offences CK24044113
On September 6, 2024, at 1:40 p.m., police began a weapons investigation in Chatham.
Investigation revealed the male youth threatened to physically harm another youth while in the possession of a knife.
On September 8, 2024, at 9:12 a.m., the 16-year-old Chatham youth was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. As a result of the bail hearing, he was released by the court with conditions to his parents’ care. He has been charged with the following: assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and uttering treats.
Man and Woman Arrested for Assault CK24044117/CK24044121
At 9:42 a.m., police responded to Adelaide Street south in Chatham for a disturbance.
Officers learned a verbal altercation between the man and the woman escalated when altercation became physical. Officers learned the woman threw a bottle at the man and the man grabbed the woman causing her minor physical injury.
Both individuals were arrested and released with conditions and a future court date of October 7, 2024.
The 38-year-old Chatham man was charged with assault.
The 31-year-old Chatham woman was charged with assault with a weapon.
Man Arrested for Bail Violations CK24044226
On September 9, 2024, at 1:31 a.m., police responded to Warwick Drive in Wallaceburg to investigate suspicious activity. It was reported a man dressed in dark clothing was observed walking around the property with a flashlight. The man left in a vehicle at a high rate of speed prior to police arrival. A description of the vehicle was provided which aided officers in locating the vehicle on Base Line, near Old Glass Road in Wallaceburg.
Officers conducted a traffic stop and discovered the man was in violation of a curfew condition. During a search incident to arrest, the man was found in possession of a BB gun and a stolen identification. The man was also prohibited from being in possession of weapons.
The 49-year-old Chatham man was transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. The man was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking, failing to comply with a recognizance and possession of stolen property.
