Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 236 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested and three were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Bail Violation CK24042758
At 1:23 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Wellington Street East in Chatham.
Officers attended and learned a man, who had been released by the court on March 16, 2024, with conditions prohibiting him from attending the residence, had been there and left prior to police arrival.
The 41-year-old Chatham man was located on Princess Street in Chatham a short time later and arrested. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing. He has been charged with failing to comply with a release order.
Man Arrested for Assault CK24042852
At 8:06 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Warwick Drive in Chatham.
Through investigation officers learned a verbal altercation escalated when the man assaulted the woman.
The 24-year-old Chatham man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was released with conditions and a future court date of October 21, 2024. He has been charged with assault.
Woman Wanted for Drug Trafficking CK24035873
On July 30, 2024, an officer on general patrol conducted a traffic stop on King Street East, near Adelaide Street South in Chatham. The woman driving provided a Quebec driver’s license that was determined to be fake.
The woman was arrested. A search incident to arrest produced a valid Ontario driver’s license with a photo, correcting identifying the woman. During her arrest, a large amount of currency and scales were observed inside the vehicle. The motor vehicle was towed pending judicial authorization.
The 21-year-old Hamilton woman, Raghdah Saad Taha AL-JANABI, was transported to police headquarters, where she was held pending a bail hearing. She was charged with obstruct peace officer, possess forged document with intent and use forged document. As a result of the bail hearing, she was released by the court with conditions and a future court appearance of September 6, 2024.
On August 7, 2024, the Intelligence Unit applied for and was granted a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search warrant for the motor vehicle.
A systematic search of the motor vehicle yielded the following items:
– Cocaine (approximate street value of $12,900);
– Methamphetamine (approximate street value of $119,204);
– Fentanyl (approximate street value of $55,400);
– Canadian currency (less than $2000)
– Digital scales;
– A prohibited weapon (knife); and,
– A gold watch.
As a result, Raghdah Saad Taha AL-JANABI is wanted for possession of a prohibited weapon and three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
