Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 177 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested and four were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Assault CK24045806
At 7:36 a.m., police responded to Centre Side Road in Chatham Township for a dispute.
Officers learned the man and the woman engaged in a verbal argument while travelling in a vehicle. When the woman attempted to call the police, a struggled ensured, resulting in the woman being assaulted. The woman was able to exit the vehicle and contact police.
Further investigation revealed the man was on a conditional sentence order, with a condition prohibiting him from associated with the woman.
The 34-year-old Wallaceburg man was located and arrested. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He has been charged with two counts of assault.
As a result of the bail hearing, he was remanded into custody and transported to Southwest Regional Detention Centre. His next court appearance was scheduled for September 19, 2024.
Woman Arrested on an OPP Warrant CK24045826
At 10:21 a.m., the woman attended the Ontario Courthouse of Justice on Grand Avenue West in Chatham for an unrelated matter. Officers confirmed she was wanted on an outstanding warrant held by the Ontario Provincial Police.
The 42-year-old Wallaceburg woman was arrested and released to the Ontario Provincial Police.
Woman Arrested for Drug Offences CK24045844
At 11:41 a.m., the woman attended the Ontario Court of Justice on Grand Avenue West in Chatham. Officers confirmed she was wanted on an outstanding warrant in relation to an August 2024 drug investigation in Chatham.
The 34-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and released with a court date of October 3, 2024. She is currently facing the following charges: position of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Woman Arrested for Bail Violation CK24045858
At 12:26 p.m., police responded to Chestnut Drive in Wallaceburg for a disturbance.
Upon arrival officer located the woman who was wanted on an outstanding warrant in relation to a January 2024 bail violation investigation.
The 40-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was arrested and released with a court date of October 7, 2024. She is currently facing the following charges: assault, uttering threats, mischief, failing to comply with a release order and two counts of failing to attend court.
Man Arrested for Theft CK24045913
At 6:59 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Talbot Street East in Blenheim. The man and the woman were reported to be engaged in a verbal argument.
Upon arrival officers observed the man attempt to flee the area on a bicycle. After a short distance, the man was taken into custody. Officers also confirmed he was wanted on outstanding warrants in relation to other investigations this year.
The 21-year-old Chatham man was transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, five counts of possession of stolen property over $5000, five counts of possession of stolen property under $5000 and five counts of theft under $5000.
