Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 200 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested and one was on outstanding warrant.
Man Arrested for Impaired Driving CK24048904
At 7:44 a.m., emergency crews responded to Longwoods Road in Louisville for a motor vehicle collision.
Through investigation, officers learned the man was driving a car eastbound on Longwoods Road when the car veered into the westbound lane and struck a car travelling westbound. The westbound car left the roadway and came to rest adjacent to a field. The driver sustained physical injuries.
The man fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival. As K9 and drones were being deployed the man was located approximately 2 kms west of the collision site. The officer arrested the man and believed he was also under the influence of an intoxicating substance. Further investigation revealed the man was also wanted by Sarnia Police Service.
The 26-year-old Sarnia man was transported to police headquarters, where he underwent a Drug Recognition Evaluation. The man was later released with conditions and a future court date of October 7, 2024. He has been charged with failing to stop after an accident, impaired driving causing bodily harm, and failure/refusal to comply with a demand. He was also issued a Part 3 summons for driving without a valid driver’s license.
Man Arrested for Stolen Vehicle CK24048985
On September 15, 2024, the vehicle was reported stolen to the Chatham-Kent Police service from an address on Industrial Road in Thamesville.
On September 18, 2024, the vehicle was observed on Littlejohn Road in Bothwell and on September 19, 2024, the owner of the vehicle observed the vehicle on Tower Road in Bothwell. The vehicle was recovered on Tower Road after the occupants fled the area. K9 and the drone were deployed to search the area.
Through investigation, officers used surveillance footage from various locations to identify the individuals involved and sought a warrant for their arrest.
On October 1, 2024, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service assisted the Ontario Provincial Police in locating and arresting one individual in Alvinston, Ontario.
The 37-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was released with conditions and a future court date of October 21, 2024. He has been charged with possession of stolen property.
A second person is also wanted in this matter.
Man Arrested for Mischief CK24048992
On September 4, 2024, at 4:52 p.m. the man attended a gas station on Richmond Street in Chatham and captured via video surveillance applying a substance on the keypad of a pump station. The man left the area only to return a short time later in a different vehicle and to a different pump station. During the second visit the man was again captured via video surveillance repeating the same actions.
The pump was inspected, deemed to be unusable and requiring repairs.
The man was identified through surveillance footage and contacted regarding the charges.
On October 1, 2024, at 4:11 p.m. the 63-year-old Chatham man attended Chatham-Kent Police headquarters and turned himself into the police. He was released with conditions and a future court date of October 28, 2024. He has been charged with two counts of mischief over $5000.
Woman Arrested for Probation Violation CK24049025
At 7:14 p.m., police responded to a facility on Currie Street in Chatham for a probation violation investigation.
Officers located the woman, intoxicated, and confirmed she was on conditions not to consume alcohol.
The 38-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and released with a future court date of October 25, 2024.
