Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 143 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Nine people was arrested and two were on outstanding warrants.
Woman Arrested for Assault CK24023906
At 10:13 a.m., police responded to an assault investigation on Sandys Street in Chatham.
Officers learned on May 17, 2024; the woman engaged in verbal arguments with her roommate. The arguments escalated when the woman struck the roommate with a closed fist and a baseball bat.
The 33-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where she was released with conditions and a future court date of July 8, 2024. She was charged with assault, assault with a weapon and uttering threats.
Man Arrested for Bail Violations CK24023939
At 2:10 p.m., police responded to Hall Street North in Blenheim to investigation suspicious activity.
Upon arrival, officers located the man and confirmed he was wanted on two outstanding warrants. Upon a search incident to arrest, a replica pistol BB gun was found in the man’s waistband. Officers confirmed he was bound by a weapons prohibition order.
The 47-year-old Sarnia man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: assault with a weapon, failing to comply with a release order, two counts of failing to attend court and two counts of uttering threats.
Woman Arrested for Impaired Driving CK24023983
At 7:24 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Park Avenue East in Chatham.
The officer believed the woman to be under the influence of alcohol and administered a roadside breath test. When the woman registered a “fail”, she fled on foot but was taken into custody a short time later.
The 32-year-old Chatham woman was transported to police headquarters where she was charged with resisting arrest, escape lawful custody, obstructing justice, and several Highway Traffic Act offences, including a novice driver operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration above zero. She was issued a 3-day license suspension, her driver’s license was seized, and her vehicle was towed. She was released with conditions and four Part III summons with a future court date of June 24, 2024.
Two Youths Arrested for Assault CK23023778
At 9:45 p.m., police began investigating an assault that had occurred on May 25, 2024, on King Street in Chatham.
The investigation revealed a Chatham youth had been assaulted by other youths physically and with a pellet gun.
On May 27, 2024, two youths were arrested and released with conditions and a future court date of June 24, 2024.
The 14-year-old and the 16-year-old Chatham male youths were charged with aggravated assault.
Man and Woman Arrested for Assault CK24024010/CK24024018
At 10:23 p.m., police responded to Sheldon Avenue for a disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers learned the man and the woman engaged in a verbal argument. The argument escalated when the woman assaulted the man, and the man damaged the woman’s phone.
The 35-year-old Chatham woman and the 32-year-old Chatham man were arrested and transported to police headquarters, where they were released with conditions and a future court date of June 24, 2024.
The woman was charged with assault and the man was charged with mischief.
