Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 172 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested.
Man Arrested for Failing to Comply with an Undertaking (CK24030203)
On June 29th, 2024 at approximately 8:27 a.m., police responded to a report of an unwanted person at a residence on Bond Avenue in Tilbury. Upon arrival, police learned that a man had attended a woman’s residence contrary to his court ordered conditions. The man was previously released from police custody on these conditions after he had assaulted the woman during a separate incident. The man, who had fled prior to police arrival, was then located a short time later by investigating officers and placed under arrest for Fail to Comply with Undertaking. The 23-year-old Tilbury man was ultimately transported to police headquarters where he was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for LCBO Thefts (CL24000284)
On June 25th, 2024 at approximately 10:29 a.m., a man entered the LCBO on Wellington Street West in Chatham. While in attendance, the man removed a bottle of liquor valued at $47.95 from the shelf, concealed it in his backpack, and then fled the store without making any attempt to pay. On June 26th, 2024 at approximately 5:30 p.m., the same man re-attended the store, removed an additional bottle of liquor off the shelf valued at $69.95, and concealed it within his coat. Making no attempt to pay for the merchandise, the man proceeded to bypass the checkout and once again fled the store with the liquor in his possession. Video surveillance of both thefts were submitted to the Chatham-Kent Police Service which resulted in the man being identified.
On June 29th, 2024 at approximately 10:18 a.m., police located the man in the area of Lacroix Street and Grand Avenue West in Chatham. He was placed under arrest without incident and charged with the following offences: Theft Under $5000 x 2, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 x 2, Failure to Comply with Release Order x 2. The 27-year-old Chatham man was held in police custody pending a bail hearing.
Woman Arrested on Outstanding Warrant (CK24030335)
On June 29th, 2024 at approximately 9:33 p.m., police received a report of a suspicious person in the area of Wellington Street West in Chatham. The female subject was subsequently located by responding officers, and a query of her name revealed her to have an outstanding warrant in effect for Failure to Attend Court. The 32-year-old Chatham woman was arrested on the strength of this warrant, transported to police headquarters for processing, and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
