The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 72 hours. Below is a summary of the key events, including arrests, investigations, and other notable occurrences.

Key Incidents-
Shoplift – Case# CK25026793, CK25026805, CK25026810, CK25026815
Date: May 9, 2025. Time: 16:00 hrs- 18:00 hrs., Location: Chatham
Details:
On May 8, 2025, at approximately between 16:00 hrs-18:00 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to reports of shoplifting from three retail store locations in Chatham. A description was provided indicating that the suspects were using an identifiable rental vehicle. The vehicle was later observed in Wallaceburg and stopped by police.
Upon investigation, officers obtained evidence linking the vehicle to thefts at all three locations. One individual, a 36-year-old male from Windsor was arrested and charged with three counts of possession of stolen property under $5000. The accused was released with conditions and a scheduled future court date of June 16, 2025.
The second suspect has not yet been located. Police are actively seeking to identify and locate this individual. Arrest/Impaired Operation/Fail to Stop – Case# CK25027098Date: May 10, 2025, Time: 01:38hrs., Location: Jackson Drive. Chatham
Details:
On May 10, 2025, at approximately 01:38hrs. a.m. Chatham-Kent Police Officers observed an a 25-year-old male from Chatham, operating a motorized scooter while displaying signs of impairment. The individual failed to immediately stop when directed by police.
Later, the individual was located on foot in a nearby park, away from the scooter by the police. The male was arrested and transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters for breath tests. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired and failing to stop for police. He was released with conditions and a future court date of May 26, 2025. His licence was suspended for 90 days, and the scooter was impounded for 7 days.
Warrants – Case# CK25027288
Date: May 11, 2025, Time: 2344 hrs., Location: Chatham
Details:
On November 26, 2024, at approximately 13:38 hrs the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a robbery at a convenience store in Chatham. It was reported that a male had entered the store and caused significant damage, including the destruction of items.
Upon investigation, it was determined that one of the suspects a 33-year-old male from Chatham became irate after being informed that he could not purchase items at the store. The situation escalated when he threw a glass bottle inside the store, resulting in future destruction. The suspect then grabbed various items before fleeing the store. No injuries were reported.
Later that day, the suspect returned to the store.
Officers were contacted, and he was arrested and charged with one count of robbery. He was scheduled to attend court on May 6, 2025. However, he failed to appear in court, and an endorsed warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.
On May 11, at approximately 2344 hrs, the accused was arrested on the strength of an endorsed warrant for robbery. He is currently being held for bail.
