Assault – Case# CK25025079

Details:
On May 1, 2025, at 12:42 hours police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Chatham. Officers found the victim outside with visible injuries, including swelling and bruising around her left eye. She reported being assaulted during a dispute with her partner.
Officers learned tensions had escalated between the couple during a verbal argument. The victim attempted to leave when she was forcibly prevented from leaving by her partner, leading to a physical altercation.
The 37-year-old Chatham man was arrested for assault and forcible confinement. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of June 9, 2025.
Break and Enter – Case# CK25025152

Details:
On May 1, 2025, at approximately 20:22 hours, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a break and enter at a property in Chatham.
An individual unlawfully entered an unattached shed and stole a tin of pellet gun BBs. When confronted by the property owner, the suspect fled, inadvertently dropping the stolen items.
Police located the suspect a short distance from the scene and arrested him. During the arrest, officers discovered break-in tools, specifically a pair of bolt cutters, in his possession.
The42-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing multiple charges, including breaking and entering, possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of break-in instruments, and failure to comply with a probation order. The man is also subject to several outstanding warrants and was held for bail.
Impaired & IPV Mischief – Case# CK25025229
Date: May 2, 2025, Time: 03:48hrs, Location: Ridge Line. Howard Township
Details:
On May 2, 2025, at approximately 03:45 hours, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a disturbance at a residence in Ridgetown.
Police received a call from an individual reporting that his partner had rammed her vehicle into his garage door and was pursuing him inside. Upon arrival, officers found both parties inside the garage. The woman exhibited signs of impairment, including slurred speech and an odor of alcohol, with an empty container of alcohol found in her vehicle.
The 32-year-old Ridgetown woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests. She currently faces the following charges:
• Operation while impaired contrary to section 320.14 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
• Adult operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) – contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
• Dangerous Operation contrary to section 320.13 Criminal Code of Canada.
• Mischief over $5,000 contrary to section 430(3) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
She was released with conditions, and a court date of May 12, 2025. Her driver’s license was suspended for 90 days, and her vehicle was impounded.
