Chatham-Kent Police Service – Daily Report for May 16-19, 2025
The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 96 hours. Below is a summary of the key events, including arrests, investigations, and other notable occurrences.

Key Incidents:
Arrest/Shoplift/Identity Theft – CK25028340
Date: May 16, 2025, Time: 9:53 hrs., Location: Street, Clair St., Chatham
On May 16, 2025, at approximately 9:53 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of two individuals stealing from a local business in Chatham.
Upon arrival, police officers located and arrested two males: a 31-year-old male from Brampton and a 32-year-old male with no fixed address.
During the arrest, police seized over ten identity cards, along with more than ten credit cards and gift cards, all believed to belong to the individuals.
The suspects are currently facing the following charges:
•Theft under $5,000
•Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
•Possession of an Identity Document
•Possession of a Scheduled Substance
They were transported to the Chatham-Kent Police service where they are currently being held for bail. Additionally, they are also wanted by other police services for similar offences across the province.
Arrest/Fraud – CK25028616
Date: May 17, 2025, Time: 13:34hrs., Location: Richmond Street, Chatham
On May 17, 2025, at approximately 13:34 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a fraud-in progress involving a vehicle purchase.
Police officers were alerted after a fraud flag was triggered in a national database, indicating suspected identify theft. Officers determined that a female suspect, 26-year-old from Niagara, was attempting to purchase a vehicle using the identity of another individual who had previously reported a fraud incident to police in another jurisdiction.
The suspect was arrested and charged with the following offences:
•Personation with Intent (Identity Fraud)
•Fraud – Over $5,000
•False Pretence
The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters. She was released with a scheduled court date of June 30, 2025.
Arrest, Assault/Dangerous Driving – CK25028840
Date: May 18, 2025, Time: 13:26 hrs Location: Princess Street, North Chatham
On May 18, 2025, at approximately 13:26 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of an assault involving a vehicle.
Upon investigation, officers learned that a victim, a 61-year-old male from Chatham was sitting on an e-bike in a front yard when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 40-year-old male also from Chatham. The individual was located and arrested by the Chatham-Kent Police Service.
The accused has been charged with the following:
•Assault
•Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
He was released with a scheduled court date of June 30, 2025.
Arrest, Warrants – CK25029034
Date: May 19, 2025, Time: 12:03hrs. Location: Harvey Street, Chatham
On May 14, 2025, at approximately 21:06 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service investigated a report of mischief after a resident submitted video footage showing a neighbour spitting and pouring liquid on their outdoor doorbell camera (CK25027982). Officers reviewed the footage and confirmed the suspect’s identity as a 54-year-old male from Chatham.
Officers attended the resident of the accused, but the individual refused to the exit the home and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was charged with Mischief Under $5,000.
On May 19, 2025, at approximately 12:03hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service located and arrested the accused based on his existing warrant for mischief. The individual was released with a scheduled future court date of June 23, 2025.
RIDE Program
Canada Road Safety Week is currently underway and runs from May 13 -19, 2025. This seven-day national campaign aims to make Canada’s roads the safest in the world. The annual awareness initiative is designed to increase public compliance with safe driving practices to save lives and reduce injuries on Canada’s roads. The campaign continues to focus on eliminating impaired, distracted driving, aggressive driving, and driving without a seatbelt. Several Traffic Enforcement initiatives were conducted by CKPS Traffic unit and front patrol officers throughout the Municipality within the last 96 hours.

•CK25028524–RIDE program conducted in Chatham. 10 vehicles checked: No infractions.
•CK25028443 – RIDE program conducted at multiple locations. 400 vehicles checked resulting in 8 HTA cautions.
May 17, 2025
•18 Traffic Stop/Enforcement incidents were generated in Wallaceburg. This resulted in 7 PONS issued for seatbelt and cell phones, and 1 part III for driving under suspension.
May 18, 2025
•19 Traffic Stop/Traffic Enforcement incidents were recorded. 31 PONS were issued along with 1 roadside breath test.
May 19, 2025
•Traffic Enforcement resulted in 53 traffic stops, with multiple charges and cautions issued.
