The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events, including arrests, investigations, and other notable occurrences.

Date: May 14, 2025. Time: 06:47 hrs., Location: Tweedsmuir W, Chatham
Details:
On May 14, 2025, at approximately 06:47 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a reported break and enter in progress at a residence in Chatham. A male suspect, a 23-year-old male from Windsor, was observed on video taking property from a shed in the backyard of a residence before fleeing the scene.
Responding officers located the individual nearby, where he was identified and arrested without incident. The individual admitted to police to being in the backyard of the residence. A search of the suspect revealed stolen property.
Upon investigation, it was determined that the male was on conditions not to be within the jurisdiction of Chatham-Kent due to a previous release order. The accused is currently facing the following charges:
Count 1: Failing to comply with release order
Count 2: Failing to comply with undertaking
Count 3: Break and enter to commit theft under $5,000
Count 4: Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
He was released with a scheduled court date of May 20, 2025.

Date: May 14, 2025. Time: 14:30 hrs, Location: Dufferin Avenue, Wallaceburg
Details:
On April 5, 2025, at approximately 14:30 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to an assault in progress in Wallaceburg. The report involved a 32-year-old woman from Wallaceburg who threw a stick at a young child while walking on a public street.
Witnesses reported that the woman appeared to be under the influence and was shouting incoherently prior to the incident. The child was struck on the side but did not require medical treatment. The suspect was arrested and was charged with assault with a weapon. She was scheduled to attend court on May 12, 2025; however, she failed to attend court, and an endorsed warrant was issued for her arrest. On May 14, 2025, at approximately 2217hrs, the accused was arrested by the Chatham-Kent Police on an endorsed warrant for Failing to attend court.
She was released with conditions and a scheduled court date of June 2, 2025.
