Chatham-Kent Police Service – Daily Report for June 2, 2025The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events, including arrests, investigations, and other notable occurrences.

Key Incidents:
Arrest/Theft – CK25031950
Date: June 2, 2025, Time: 20:17hrs., Location: Grand Avenue West, Chatham
On June 2, 2025, at approximately 20:17 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a theft at a convenience store. Two individuals were observed leaving the premises without paying for several items.
At approximately 20:23 hrs, officers located both suspects: a 28-year-old male from Chatham-Kent and a 19-year-old male also from Chatham-Kent walking in the area. When approached, the 19-year-old male, fled on foot, leading officers in a short pursuit. The second suspect, the 28-year-old male was taken into custody without incident. Officers were able to recover the stolen items from the accused.
Following the brief foot chase, the fleeing suspect was apprehended. During the arrest, a search led to the discovery of a weapon in the suspect’s possession.
Both individuals were transported to the Chatham-Kent Police headquarters.
Charges:
The 28-year-old male is currently facing the following charge:
•Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
The 19-year-old male is currently facing the following charges:
•Theft Under $5000
•Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
•Escape and being at Large Without Excuse
•Obstruct Police
•Fail to comply with probation order
Both accused were released with conditions and are scheduled to appear in court on July 14, 2025.
