Theft – CK25036852
Date: June 25, 2025, Time: 15:15hrs., Location: Wellington Street, Chatham
On June 25, 2025, at approximately 15:15hrs, police attended a public facility on Wellington Street W in Chatham for a theft investigation. The items were taken from the front desk area while the complainant was present. Officers attended and spoke with the victim and several bystanders.
Later that evening, the victim reported that her phone had been activated and was showing a location. She also indicated that her credit and debit cards had been used at several local businesses.
Police reviewed surveillance footage from the local retailers and identified the suspect.
Officers attended the man’s residence, where they were greeted by an individual, who voluntarily surrendered the stolen phone. The male suspect then appeared at the door and made several admissions related to the theft and fraud. He also provided additional stolen items, including credit and debit cards belonging to the victim.
The 39-year-old Chatham man was also wanted on an outstanding warrant stemming from a May 2025 theft investigation. He was arrested without incident and faced multiple charges, including:
• Theft under $5,000
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
• Fraud Under $5,000
• Unauthorized Use of Credit Card
He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
Dangerous Driving/IPV – CK25036923
Date: June 25, 2025, Time: 20:50hrs., Location: Sheldon Avenue, Chatham
On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at approximately 20:50hrs, individuals approached police to report an incident. It was report that at 19:45hrs, at a Sheldon Avenue residence, a man engaged in a verbal argument with his romantic partner.
Witnesses observed the male driving in reverse with the girlfriend partially inside the vehicle and the door open. As the situation escalated, the witness attempted to intervene by standing in front of the vehicle, resulting in the vehicle making contact with them. The male continued to drive forward, with the girlfriend still not fully inside the vehicle.
Police later met with the male and his girlfriend at a residence in the south end of Chatham. The 27-year-old Chatham man admitted to being an unlicensed driver and acknowledged operating the vehicle during the incident.
He was subsequently arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was charged with two counts of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. He was later released with conditions and a scheduled court date of July 21, 2025.
Intimate Partner Violence – CK25036958
Date: June 25, 2025, Time: 23:28hrs., Location: Wallace Street, Wallaceburg
On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at approximately 23:28hrs, Chatham-Kent Police responded to a report of a disturbance at an apartment on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg.
Upon arrival, officers conducted a door knock at the apartment and was met with a man and a woman. Through separate discussions with both parties, officers learned that the dispute stemmed from a verbal disagreement regarding their child. The argument escalated into a physical altercation when the woman slapped the man.
At 23:47hrs, the 36-year-old Wallaceburg woman was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. She was later released with conditions and scheduled a court date of July 21, 2025. She has been charged with assault.
