Chatham-Kent Police Service – Daily Report for April 2, 2025
The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events, including arrests, investigations, and other notable occurrences.
Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 230 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested.
Highway Traffic Act – Case #CK25018687
Date: April 2, 2025, Time: 2:50 a.m., Location: Wellington Street W, Chatham
On April 2, 2025, at approximately 2:50 a.m. a patrol officer was driving eastbound on Wellington Street W in Chatham when they were alerted to an unattached plate by the Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR).
The officer conducted a traffic stop and through investigation confirmed the plates being used on the vehicle were not registered to the driver nor were they associated to the vehicle. The officer also confirmed the driver received two driver license suspensions, one for failure to pay fines and one for medical reasons.
The 33-year-old Chatham man was issued three Part III summons to attend court on May 7, 2025. The plates were seized and returned to the Ministry of Transportation. He has been charged with Use plate not authorized for the vehicle; and two counts of drive while under suspension.
Break & Enter – Case #CK25018711
Date: April 2, 2025, Time: 6:55 a.m.; Location: St. Clair Street, Chatham
On April 2, 2025, at approximately 6:55 a.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service received two complaints of an insecure property located on St. Clair Street, near Grand Avenue in Chatham.
Officers attended and found the door to a vacant apartment, located above a business, had been kicked in. Through investigation, evidence left at the scene and comments made by the initial reporter, officers formed grounds to believe the initial reporter was responsible for the damage.
The 48-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and released with conditions and a future court date of May 12, 2025. He has been charged with break and enter.
Traffic Stop/Fail to Comply/Drug Offence – Case #CK25018923
Date: April 3, 2025, Time: 3:50 a.m.; Location: Park Street, Chatham
At 3:50 a.m., a patrol officer conducted a traffic stop on Park Street in Chatham.
The officer discovered a female occupant, bound by curfew conditions, was in breach of a release order by being outside during her curfew period.
Through further investigation, the officer found a male occupant in possession of a controlled substance.
The 27-year-old Blenheim woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where she was held for a bail hearing. She has been charged with failing to comply with a release order.
The 25-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released with a future court date of May 8, 2025. He has been charged with possession of a controlled substance – Methamphetamine
