The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events, including arrests, investigations, and other notable occurrences.

Key Incidents-
Shoplift – Case# CK25026533
Date: May 8, 2025, Time: 1224 hrs, Location: St. Clair St. Chatham
Details:
On May 8, 2025, at approximately 12:24 hrs, Chatham-Kent Police responded to a report of a theft in progress involving a 54-years-old a male suspect from Tilbury who was seen concealing items in a backpack and leaving a retail store in Chatham without paying.
The suspect, who is known to the store from previous incidents, was located nearby by officers. He was arrested and charged with the following:
•Count #1 Theft Under $5000
•Count #2 Possession Under $5000
He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters and is currently being held for bail.
Impaired – Case# CK25026596
Date: May 8, 2025 Time: 18:47 hrs., Location: Bloomfield Road, Raleigh
Details:
On May 8, 2025, at approximately 18:47 hrs, Chatham-Kent Police responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision involving a motorcyclist, a 45-year-old male from Thamesville, who had lost control and fallen onto the gravel shoulder of the roadway.
The rider was not injured however, officers determined that the individual was operating the motorcycle while under the influence of alcohol. The suspect was arrested for impaired driving and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters for breath tests. The individual was released unconditionally and issued a three-day license suspension.
Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind all motorists that impaired driving is a serious offence that puts everyone at risk. Please plan for a safe ride home.
