On June 2, 2026, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service Intelligence Unit obtained search warrants under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act for two residences located in the City of Chatham. The warrants were issued as part of an on-going investigation into suspected drug trafficking involving fentanyl and cocaine.

At approximately 15:02 hrs, members of the Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at the first residence located on McNaughton Avenue East, Chatham. Eight individuals, ranging in age from 26 to 56 years old, were located inside and arrested without incident.

Shortly thereafter, at approximately 15:24 hrs, a second warrant was executed at a secondary residence located on Selkirk Street, Chatham, where three individuals, ranging in age from 26 to 42 years old, were also located and arrested.

A subsequent search of the residences resulted in the seizure of the following items:

  • Approximately 100 grams of fentanyl
  • Approximately 100 grams of cocaine
  • Cellular telephones
  • A digital scale
  • Packaging materials
  • A large quantity of Canadian currency

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is approximately $30,000.

As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old man from Etobicoke has been charged with two counts of possession of fentanyl and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing. All other individuals arrested were released.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service remains firmly committed to disrupting and dismantling drug trafficking networks operating within our community. This includes proactively targeting individuals and organized groups that attempt to transport and distribute illegal substances into Chatham-Kent from outside jurisdictions.

Through intelligence-led enforcement, strategic partnerships, and coordinated operations, our officers will continue to take decisive action against those who profit from the sale of dangerous drugs. These efforts are focused not only on enforcement, but also on reducing the availability of substances that contribute to addiction, violence, and broader community harm. We will continue to work collaboratively across units and with external partners to identify, investigate, and hold those responsible for bringing illegal drugs into our municipality accountable.
