Chatham‑Kent’s first‑ever Battle of the Badges organized by Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers brought together frontline responders from Chatham‑Kent Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police, Chatham‑Kent Fire & Rescue, EMS, and First Nations Police for a friendly, high‑energy competition in support of Chatham‑Kent Crime Stoppers. Hosted at the Rondeau Rod & Gun Club, the event featured a full slate of challenges, including rifle, archery, trap, skeet, and action handgun competitions. Teams from across emergency services and a civilian team showcased their skills, teamwork, and camaraderie in a day designed to celebrate partnership and community spirit.
Chief Earley reflected on the success of the event.
“Battle of the Badges was an outstanding success and a proud moment for all emergency services in Chatham‑Kent. This was the first event of its kind in our community, and the energy, teamwork, and good‑natured competition made it a day to remember. Together, we raised more than $14,000, which will be invested directly into community safety initiatives that benefit every service and every resident we serve.
We are grateful for the tremendous sponsorship and community support that made this event possible. I want to extend special thanks to MP Dave Epp and Mayor Darrin Canniff for joining us and supporting this important cause. Their participation reflects the strong partnerships that make Chatham‑Kent such a remarkable community.
Of course, Chatham‑Kent Police Service won and will be proudly reminding our emergency services partners of that for quite some time! My appreciation goes out to all participating agencies, volunteers, organizers, and the Rondeau Rod & Gun Club for hosting us. We look forward to building on this success and making Battle of the Badges a signature annual event.”
The funds raised will support Crime Stoppers’ ongoing efforts to enhance public safety, encourage anonymous reporting, and strengthen community‑driven crime prevention across Chatham‑Kent.
