On October 9, 2026, at approximately 14:29 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a cyclist on George Street South in Dresden.
The investigation revealed that a driver, a 62-year-old female from Dresden, struck a 57-year-old female cyclist from Chatham-Kent with her vehicle. The cyclist was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and the driver was transported to hospital as a precaution.
As a result of the investigation, the driver was issued a provincial offence notice for careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

R.I.D.E. / Impaired – CK26075244
Date: October 10, 2026, Time: 01:29 hrs. Location: Lacroix Street, Chatham
On October 10, 2026, at approximately 01:29 hrs, Chatham-Kent Police Service officers conducted a R.I.D.E. program on Lacroix Street in Chatham.
A 24-year-old male from Chatham approached officers in a vehicle. During the investigation, the driver displayed signs of being impaired.
The driver provided a breath sample into an approved screening device and registered a fail.
As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested and charged with the following:
- Count 1: Operation while impaired – Blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was later released with conditions and a scheduled court date of November 19, 2026.
His driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days under the Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Date: October 10, 2026, Time: 06:28 hrs., Location: Pioneer Line, Dover Township
On October 10, 2026, at approximately 06:28 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a single motor vehicle accident on Pioneer Line, Dover Township.
The investigation revealed that the vehicle left the roadway and entered a ditch. Officers located four occupants of the vehicle a short distance away. One individual, a 21-year-old male from Merlin, was transported to hospital with minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.
The driver, a 20-year-old female from Chatham, was issued a provincial offence notice for careless driving. The individual also received a seven-day driver’s licence suspension.

Arrest Assault – CK26075742
Date: October 11, 2026, Time: 20:00hrs., Location: Sydenham Street, Dresden
On October 11, 2026, at approximately 20:00 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a family dispute at a residence on Sydenham Street in Dresden.
The investigation revealed that a 29-year-old male from Chatham had physically assaulted three family members. No injuries were reported.
Upon officers’ arrival, the accused was non-compliant and became physically resistant during his arrest. The individual assaulted an officer by biting the officer’s lower leg, spitting in an officer’s face, and kicking an officer in the stomach.
As a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested and charged with the following offences:

- Count 3 – Assault
- Count 4 – Assault Peace Officer
- Count 5 – Assault Peace Officer
- Count 6 – Resist a peace officer
- Count 7 – Assault Peace Officer

Traffic Stop/Warrants – CK26075969

On October 12, 2026, at approximately 17:06 hrs., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service executed a traffic stop on Colborne Street, Chatham.
The investigation revealed that the driver, a 59-year-old male, was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle. The vehicle also displayed a licence plate that was not authorized for it.
The individual was charged with the following:
- Operating a motor vehicle while prohibited x 3
- Use Plate not Authorized for Vehicle
The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was later released with a future court date. The individual’s vehicle was also impounded for 45 days.
