The Chatham-Kent Police Service is proud to recognize Emergency Communications Operator (ECO) Abigail Case and Constable Brigley with a Board Citation for their exceptional response to a medical emergency involving an infant.
On May 3, 2026, at approximately 21:09 hrs, ECO Case received a 911 call reporting that an infant was unresponsive and not breathing. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, she immediately transferred the call to Chatham-Kent Emergency Medical Services while ensuring an incident was created so police officers could be dispatched without delay.
Constable Brigley arrived at approximately 21:10 hrs and immediately continued CPR and rescue breathing. His life-saving efforts were successful and the infant who was two months old at the time, began breathing independently and regained consciousness.
Chatham-Kent paramedics arrived shortly afterward and transported the infant to hospital for further care. CKPS is pleased to share that the infant has since made a full recovery.
ECO Case’s quick assessment and Constable Brigley’s immediate actions demonstrate the critical importance of experience, sound decision-making and teamwork during an emergency.
The Chatham-Kent Police Services Board recognized both members with a Board Citation for their extraordinary efforts and commitment to public safety.
