The Chatham-Kent Police Service has charged three individuals following an investigation into a violent confrontation in Blenheim that left two people injured.
On August 28, 2026, at approximately 20:29 hrs., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to reports of a fight involving multiple people in the area of William Street North and Sunset Drive in Blenheim. Information received indicated that a weapon had been displayed and discharged and that a person had been struck by a motor vehicle.
The investigation was turned over to the General Investigations Unit. Investigators determined that the incident was connected to an ongoing dispute.
Police determined that a 24-year-old Blenheim man drove a motor vehicle and struck a 23-year-old Blenheim man near the intersection of William Street North and Sunset Drive.
Police also determined that during the assault, a BB gun was produced, and multiple BB pellets were discharged toward the victim. A second victim, a 21-year-old Blenheim woman, ran toward the scene to assist and was also struck.
Both victims sustained injuries and were transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for treatment. Both have since been released from hospital.
Police recovered a BB gun, associated magazines and ammunition, which were seized as evidence.
As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old male from Blenheim was arrested and charged with:
- Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm
- Assault with a Weapon
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm
An 18-year-old male from Blenheim was arrested and charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm
A 27-year-old male from Blenheim was arrested and charged with:
- Uttering Threats
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
The 24-year-old and 18-year-old accused were held pending bail hearings. The 27-year-old accused was released with a future court date.
