The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.

Weapons – CK26027805

Date: April 21, 2026, Time: 10:01 hrs., Location: Chatham Street South, Blenheim

On April 21, 2026, at approximately 10:01 hrs., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to reports of a male walking along Chatham Street South in Blenheim carrying what appeared to be a firearm.

Due to the proximity of several nearby schools, officers quickly attended the area. The individual was identified as a 21-year-old male from Blenheim and the scene was secured. Multiple police units responded and four local schools and surrounding locations were placed in lockdown as a precautionary measure.

The investigation was quickly resolved after the individual approached officers and advised that he was transporting a pellet gun to his residence. Police confirmed the pellet gun was not being used in a threatening manner. The pellet gun was seized by officers, and the individual was released unconditionally following the investigation.

All lockdown measures were lifted, and the public was notified once the situation was deemed safe.

Warrants/Bail Violations – CK26027791/CK26027793

Date: April 21, 2026, Time: 02:46 hrs., Location: King Street West, Chatham

On April 21, 2026, at approximately 02:46 hrs, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service located a 19-year-old male in the parking lot of a business on King Street West in Chatham.

Investigations revealed that the individual was wanted on an outstanding bench warrant for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Further investigations also determined that he was in breach of multiple court-ordered conditions, including a curfew and weapons prohibitions.

During a search incident to arrest, officers located a knife.

As a result of the investigation, the accused was charged with the following:

  • Failure to Comply with Undertaking x2

The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he is being held for bail.
