The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.

CK26022531– Bail Violations

Date: March 31, 2026, Time: 10:21 hrs., Location: Tecumseh Line, Tilbury

On March 31, 2026, at approximately 10:21 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a bail compliance complaint at a residence on Tecumseh Line in Tilbury.

Investigations revealed that a 50-year-old male from Tilbury was previously released from custody on October 31, 2025, with conditions that included wearing and maintaining a GPS monitoring device.

Police were notified that the accused’s GPS device battery had critically failed after earlier warnings. Officers attended the residence and confirmed the device was no longer functioning and was unable to be tracked.

As a result, the accused was arrested and charged with:

  • Count 1: Fail to Comply with Release Order

The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters where he is currently held for bail.

CK26022538– Break and Enter

Date: March 31, 2026, Time: 10:21 hrs., Location: Murray Street, Wallaceburg

On March 31, 2026, at approximately 10:51hrs., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a residence on Murray Street in Wallaceburg for a report of a break and enter in progress.

Investigations revealed that the house was supposed to be unoccupied. Officers located a 38-year-old male from Chatham and safely removed him from the residence.

Through further investigation, police determined the individual did not have permission to be inside the home.

As a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Count 1: Break and Enter with intent to Commit Theft

He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he was later released with conditions and a scheduled court date of June 24, 2026.

CK26022624– Impaired/MVC FTR

Date: March 31, 2026, Time: 17:29 hrs.., Location: Margaret Avenue, Wallaceburg

On March 31, 2026, at approximately 17:29 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a motor vehicle collision at Main Street and Margaret Avenue in Wallaceburg.

Investigations revealed that a vehicle involved in the collision had fled the scene.

At approximately 17:36 hrs., officers located the vehicle at a residence on University Drive, Wallaceburg. Officers observed a woman standing next to the vehicle, which had visible damage consistent with the reported collision.

The individual refused to identify herself and did not comply with police directions. During the interaction, officers also observed open containers of alcohol inside the vehicle as well.

The driver displayed signs of impairment and subsequently, she was arrested and transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters for further testing.

The individual identified as a 46-year-old woman from Wallaceburg continued to be uncooperative and refused to comply with a lawful breath demand despite multiple attempts by a qualified breath technician.

As a result of the investigation, the accused was charged with the following:

  • Count 1: Failure to Stop After Accident
  • Count 2: Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Count 3: Operation While Impaired
  • Count 4: Mischief under $5,000
  • Count 5: Refusal of lawful Breath Demand
  • Count 6: Owner Operating Motor Vehicle on a Highway – No Insurance

The accused is currently held for bail.

CK26022713– Bail Violations

Date: April 1, 2026, Time: 02:28 hrs., Location: McNaughton Avenue, Wallaceburg

On April 1, 2026, at approximately 2:28hrs., while members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service were investigating a stolen vehicle incident at a gas station located at McNaughton Avenue, Wallaceburg, a 32-year-old woman from Chatham-Kent was located at the scene.

The accused was located seated in the back of a vehicle. A 41-year-old male, identified as the co-accused, was located near the vehicle as well.

Investigations revealed that at the time of the incident, the accused was bound by court-ordered conditions issued on December 24, 2025. These conditions which included remaining at her residence between the hours of 22:00 hrs.,  and 7:00hrs., having no direct or indirect contact with a specified individual, except in the presence of legal counsel, to not attend within 50 metres of any location where that individual is known to live, work, or attend school, except for court purposes.

As a result of the investigation, officers determined the accused was outside her residence during curfew hours and in the company of an individual she was prohibited from contacting, thereby breaching multiple conditions of her release order.

The accused was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Fail to Comply with a Release Order x 3

The co-accused was also charged with the following:

  • Facilitate a Breach

Both individuals were transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters, where they are currently held for bail.
