Investigators from the Chatham-Kent Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit arrested and charged a 44-year-old male from Chatham in connection with an online child luring investigation.

On March 15, 2026, as part this on-going investigation, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit began an investigation into the accused believed to be luring a child under the age of 16 for a sexual purpose through various social media platforms.

On March 20, 2026, the accused was located in Chatham and arrested without incident. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing. The victim has been identified and police are working closely with the victim and their family to ensure access to appropriate supports is provided. The investigation remains ongoing and no additional details will not be provided at this time.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service is a member of the Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet and conducts investigations into Internet Child Exploitation Offences in partnership with numerous Ontario Police Services and law enforcement agencies around the world.
