On March 12, 2026, members of the Intelligence Unit and Emergency Response Team executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant that resulted in the arrest of two individuals at a residence located on Webb Street in Chatham.
At approximately 18:08 hours, the warrant was executed by the Emergency Response Team. Upon making entry to the residence occupied by a 58-year-old female and a 24-year-old male from Chatham, both individuals were located and arrested for possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking.
A systematic search of the residence was subsequently conducted by members of the Intelligence Unit and resulted in the seizure of the following:
- 2.487 kilograms of Fentanyl
- 7 grams of cocaine
- One loaded 9mm Sig Sauer handgun
- Digital scales
- Cellular telephones
- A large quantity of Canadian currency
The total approximate street value of the controlled substances is estimated to be in excess of $498,000.
As a result of the investigation, the accused have been charged with the following offences and are being held in custody pending a bail hearing:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl, S. 5(2) CDSA
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, S. 5(2) CDSA
- Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, S. 92(1) CC
- Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, S. 95 CC
- Careless storage of a firearm, S. 86 CC
