Members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service Intelligence Unit conducted a two-month investigation into a series of motor vehicle thefts occurring throughout the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.
Through various means of investigative methods, officers identified a suspect believed to be responsible for these incidents.
On February 4, 2026, a 22-year-old male from Chatham was located and arrested.
Following the arrest, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Chatham-Kent. As a result of the investigation, the accused has been charged with the following offences:
- Theft of a Motor Vehicle x 3
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x 4
- Operation of Motor Vehicle While Prohibited x3
- Possession Contrary to a Prohibition Order
The accused was transported to the South West Detention Centre, where he is remanded into custody until his next video court appearance on February 9, 2026.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service reminds residents to remain vigilant and take steps to protect their vehicles, including locking doors, removing valuables and parking in well-lit areas.
