The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 72 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.

Arrest, Warrants – CK26007595

Date: January 30, 2026, Time: 09:49 hrs., Location: Essex County

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a break and enter at a property located on Four Rod Road, Blenheim (CK25016276).

Investigations revealed that on March 5, March 6 and March 9, 2025, the accused entered an abandoned building on the property and removed copper wire and metal piping from the basement.

Through further investigation, officers identified the accused as a 46-year-old male from Kingsville, who is also subject to an ankle monitoring condition

As a result, the accusedwas charged with the following offences:

  • Break and Enter – Commit an indictable offence
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000,

Subsequently, a warrant was issued for his arrested.

On January 30, 2026, at approximately 09:49 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service was advised that a male wanted in connection with a break and enter investigation had been located in Essex County. The accused was arrested by the Essex County Ontario Provincial Police on an outstanding warrant for Break and Enter in relation to CK25016276. He was returned to Chatham-Kent and transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was released with a future court date of February 26, 2026.

Arrest, Warrants – CK26007620

Date: January 30, 2026, Time: 12:07 hrs., Location: Middle Line, Tilbury

On June 22, 2024, at approximately 18:00 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a theft at a business on Erie Street, Merlin.

Investigations revealed that a male attended the business, selected merchandise and concealed the items. The male proceeded to the checkout and paid for a separate item before exiting the store without making any attempt to pay for the concealed merchandise.

As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old male from Merlin, was identified by officers. Officers formed grounds to charge the accused with the following offences:

  • Theft Under $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.

On January 30, 2026, at approximately 12:07 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service located and the accused on Middle Line, Tilbury. He was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant.

He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he was released with conditions and a scheduled court date.  

Arrest, Theft – CK26007709

Date: January 30, 2026, Time: 19:09 hrs., Location: Wellington Street West, Chatham

On December 27, 2025, at approximately 15:37 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a theft at a retail store on Wellington Street West, Chatham (CL25000775).

Investigations revealed that an accused entered the store and selected multiple merchandise, concealed the items and then passed all points of sale without making any attempt to pay for the merchandise.

Through surveillance footage, the accused was identified as a 37-year-old male from Chatham-Kent. Officers formed grounds to charge the individual with the following offences:

  • Theft Under $5,000,
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.

On February 30, 2026, at approximately19:09 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service located the accused on Wellington Street West, Chatham. He was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant. He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he was released with conditions and a scheduled court date of March 10, 2026.

Arrest, Warrants – CK26008103

Date: January 31, 2026, Time: 02:28hrs., Location: Lorne Ave, Chatham

On January 21, 2026, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service Bail Compliance and Warrant Apprehension Unit attended the address of a 31-year-old male from Chatham in an attempt to locate the individual.

The accused was previously charged with several criminal offences between August 2023 and March 2025. On June 27, 2025, the individual was released by the court with conditions, including a requirement to reside with his surety at his residence on Park Avenue West, Chatham, and to notify police of any changes in address within 24 hours.

The accused was not located at the residence.

Officers formed grounds to charge the individual with the following offence:

Count #1: Fail to Comply with Release Order

Subsequently, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On January 31, 2026, at approximately 02:28 hrs., the accused was located at a disturbance incident on Lorne Avenue, Chatham. He was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant. The individual was transported to the South West Detention Centre where he is currently held until his next video court appearance on February 2, 2026.

Arrest, Warrants – CK26008201

Date: February 1, 2026, Time: 13:16 hrs.., Location: Chatham

On January 31, 2026, at approximately 9:10 hrs., Chatham-Kent Police Service officers responded to a report of an assault involving a 47-year-old male accused and a 48-year-old female victim, both from Chatham.

Investigations revealed that the incident occurred when both individuals were seated in a vehicle and where a verbal altercation escalated and the accused physically assaulted the victim. Additional medical attention was required, and the victim was transported to the hospital.  

As a result of the investigation, officers formed grounds to charge the accused with the following offences:

  • Count 1: Assault

Subsequently, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On February 1, 2026, at approximately 13:16 hrs, the accused was located by Chatham-Kent Police Service officers on Junction Avenue, Chatham. He was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant. The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where, he was released with conditions and a scheduled future court date of March 16, 2026.

Weapons– CK26008228

Date: February 1, 2026, Time: 17:05 hrs., Location: Park Avenue East, Chatham

On February 1, 2026, at approximately17:05 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a 911 hang-up call at a business located on Park Avenue East, Chatham.

Investigations revealed that a verbal altercation escalated, during which the accused threatened individuals with a knife and pursued one person outside of the business. Officers attended the area and located the accused, a 62-year-old male from Chatham, outside the business.

A search of the individual resulted in the seizure of multiple knives.

As a result of the investigation, the accused was charged with the following offences:

  • Count 1: Assault
  • Count 2: Uttering Threats to Cause Death
  • Count 3: Assault with a Weapon
  • Count 4: Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he is held for bail.
