On January 28, 2026, at approximately 5:22 hrs., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service Intelligence Unit and Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on St. Clair Street, Chatham.
The warrant was executed as part of an ongoing investigation into the possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking.
At approximately 5:57 hrs., ERT members entered the residence and five individuals were located inside and taken into police custody. The individuals included:
- A 29-year-old female from Chatham
- A 35-year-old female from Chatham
- A 35-year-old male from Chatham
- A 40-year-old male from Chatham
- A 44-year-old male from Chatham
A systematic search of the residence resulted in the seizure of the following items:
- Approximately 86.5 grams of suspected fentanyl
- Measuring cups and a blender containing suspected fentanyl
- A rifle-style BB Gun
- Digital scales
- Packaging materials
- Cell phones
The estimated street value of the suspected seized drugs is $8,650.
As a result, of the investigation, the individuals were charged with the following offences:
- Count 1: Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl (all accused)
- Count 2: Fail to Comply with Probation, Section 733.1(1) Criminal Code (35-year-old female – BB Gun)
- Count 3: Fail to Comply with Probation Section 733.1(1) Criminal Code (35-year-old female – possessing a controlled substance)
All individuals were transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and were released with future court dates.
