The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.

Warrants– CK26005203

Date: January 21, 2026, Time: 13:48 hrs., Location: Elm Street, Bothwell

On January 17, 2026, at approximately 13:45 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service learned that a male attended a residence on Burk Line, Chatham, attempted to make contact at the door and later entered the home through an unlocked patio door. The male was confronted inside the residence and left afterward in a vehicle (CK26004467).

Through further investigation, the suspect’s vehicle was identified in Thamesville. The suspect was also identified as a 57-year-old male from London.

Subsequently, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On January 21, 2026, at approximately 13:48 hrs., the accused was located on Elm Street, Bothwell. He was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Break and Enter a Place with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence

The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he is currently being held for bail.

Assault – CK26005212

Date: January 21, 2026, Time: 14:24 hrs., Location: St Clair Street, Chatham

On January 21, 2026, at approximately 14:24 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a disturbance on St. Clair Street, Chatham.

When officers arrived and through their investigation, officers learned that a physical altercation occurred between two individuals, 41-year-old male accused from Chatham and a 34-year-old female victim from Chatham. Officers formed reasonable grounds to charge the accused with the following:

  • Count 1: Assault

During the arrest, the accused resisted police and assaulted an officer during the interaction. The accused was additionally charged with the following offences:

  • Count 2: Resist Peace Officer
  • Count 3: Assault Peace Officer

The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he is currently being held for bail.

Impaired – CK26005248

Date: January 21, 2026, Time: 18:18 hrs., Location: St Clair Street, Chatham

On January 21, 2026, at approximately 18:18 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service received reports of a pickup truck unable to maintain its lane, travelling in the area of McNaughton Avenue and Bear Line Road in Chatham.  

Investigations revealed that the vehicle had struck curbs and sidewalks as well as nearly hitting a pedestrian.

Officers located the vehicle and the driver, a 68-year-old male from Chatham a short time later on St Clair Street, Chatham. Police initiated an impaired driving investigation, including a Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST).

As a result of the investigation, the accused was charged with the following:

  • Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he was released with a future court date of February 25, 2026.

Warrants – CK26005351

Date: January 22, 2026, Time: 03:52hrs., Location: King Street West, Chatham

On May 18, 2025, at approximately 17:46 hr., the Chatham Kent Police Service were contacted regarding an incident at a local restaurant on Third Street Chatham (CK25028873).

Through investigation, it was revealed that a male suspect attended the business and struck an exterior light fixture near the entrance, causing damage to the light.

Through surveillance footage the accused was identified as a 30-year-old male from Chatham-Kent.

Further investigation also revealed that the accused exposed his buttocks to nearby patrons inside the local restaurant.

Officers formed grounds to charge the individual with the following:

  • Count #1 – Mischief Under $5000
  • Count #2 Indecent Exhibition 

Subsequently, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On January 22, 2026, at approximately 03:52hrs., the accused was located on King Street West, Chatham. He was arrested on the strength of an endorsed warrant. He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters where is currently held for bail.

Sexual Assault -CK25067205

Date: January 20, 2026, Time: 20:46 hrs., Location: Harwich Township

On Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at approximately 9:13 hrs., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service Major Crime Section arrested a 40-year-old Blenheim man in connection with an ongoing criminal investigation. As a result, the accused has been charged with 6 counts of sexual assault, 1 count of assault and 1 count of Indecent Act in a public place. He was held for bail and subsequently remanded into custody. Due to the sensitive nature of the investigation and to protect the identity of the victim(s), no names or specific identifying details will be released. The investigation remains on-going.
