On January 16, 2026, at approximately 14:53 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a break and enter at a residence on Talbot Trail, Morpeth.
Investigations revealed a 34-year-old male from Chatham-Kent entered a detached garage on the property. The suspect opened the garage door and moved a snowmobile outside in an attempt to steal it. Officers attended the location and found the accused inside the garage.
As a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested and charged with the following:
- Break, Enter a Place – Commit Indictable Offence
- Possession of Break-In Instruments
The accused was transferred to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was remanded until January 19, 2026 and transported to the South West Detention Centre.
Break and Enter/ Theft – CK26003936
Date: January 16, 2026, Time: 20:51 hrs., Location: Webb Street, Wallaceburg
On January 16, 2026, at approximately 20:51 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a break and enter at a residence on Webb Street, Wallaceburg.
Investigations revealed the accused, a 41-year-old male from Chatham-Kent, entered the residence while the homeowner was away and stole a dog from inside the home. Police located the accused nearby with the dog.
As a result of the investigation, the accused was charged with:
- Break, Enter Dwelling House – Commit indictable Offence
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
The accused was transferred to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was released with a scheduled court date of February 26, 2026.
Break and Enter (Commercial) / Mischief – CK26004079
Date: January 17, 2026, Time: 07:52 hrs., Location: Wallace Street, Wallaceburg
On January 17, 2026, at approximately 07:52 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a break and enter on Wallace Street, Wallaceburg.
Investigations revealed that a male accused was observed inside an abandoned building. Police arrived and located the accused, a 36-year-old male from Chatham-Kent, on the roof of the building. When officers attempted to speak with him, he jumped down and fled. After a foot pursuit, the accused was arrested. During the arrest, damage was caused to a police cruiser.
As a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested and charged with the following:
- Break and Enter with Intent to Commit an Indictable
- Mischief Under $5,000
The accused was transferred to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was released with a scheduled court date of February 18, 2026.
Theft / Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – CK26004195 / CK26004202
Date: January 17, 2026, Time: 15:18 hrs., Location: St. Clair Street, Chatham
On January 17, 2026, at approximately 15:18 hours, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a theft at two retail stores on Clair Street, Chatham.
Investigations revealed the accused exited the business with merchandise without making any attempt to pay.
Through the use of surveillance footage and a description of the suspect’s vehicle, the accused, a 33-year-old female from Chatham, was located. She attempted to flee on foot but was arrested following a short foot pursuit. Further investigation revealed that the accused was also involved in an additional theft at another business in Chatham.
As a result of the investigation, the accused was charged with:
- Theft Under $5,000 (CK26004195)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (CK26004195)
- Theft Under $5,000 (CK26004202)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (CK26004202)
The accused was transferred to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters was released with a scheduled court date of February 12, 2026.
Assault Police Officer – CK26004200
Date: January 17, 2026, Time: 15:52 hrs., Location: Cardinal Crescent, Chatham
On January 17, 2026, at approximately 15:52 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a call for service at a residence on Cardinal Crescent, Chatham.
Investigations revealed that the accused contacted police to request that an individual be removed from the residence. While interacting with the unwanted person, the accused, a 40-year-old female from Chatham became aggressive and assaulted police officers. No injuries were reported.
As a result of the investigation, the accused was charged with:
• Assault to Police Officer
The accused was transferred to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where she was released with a court date.
Impaired Operation– CK26004255
Date: January 17, 2026, Time: 21:13 hrs., Location: St. Clair Street, Chatham
On January 17, 2026, at approximately 21:13 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of an impaired driver on St. Clair Street.
Investigations revealed the driver had struck a fence in a parking lot, was acting erratically and making incoherent statements. A Standardized Field Sobriety Test was conducted and the driver a 55-year-old male from Chatham was arrested for impaired operation by drug. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
As a result of the investigation, the accused charged with:
- Impaired Operation – Drug
- Over 80 mg of Alcohol
The accused was transferred to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was released with a court date.
Impaired Operation (Alcohol) – CK26004338
Date: January 18, 2026, Time: 02:52 hrs., Location: Lacroix Street, Chatham
On January 18, 2026, at approximately 02:52 hours, the Chatham-Kent Police Service conducted a traffic stop on Lacroix Street, Chatham.
Investigations revealed that the driver, an 18-year-old male from Chatham, displayed signs of being impaired. Officers formed grounds that the driver was impaired by alcohol and he was arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters for further breath testing, which resulted in the accused being over the legal limit.
As a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested and charged with the following:
- Impaired Operation -Alcohol
- Over 80 mg of Alcohol
The accused was released with a scheduled court date of February 9, 2026.
Fail to Comply – CK26004316
Date: January 18, 2026, Time: 00:44 hrs., Location: King Street West, Chatham
On January 18, 2026, at approximately 00:44 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of an unwanted person at a business located at King Street West, Chatham.
Investigations revealed that the accused, a 39-year-old male from Chatham-Kent exposed himself in the front doorway of the business.
Upon arrival, officers located the accused in the front entrance area of the business. Police confirmed the accused was bound by conditions prohibiting him from attending that location.
As a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested and charged with the following:
• Fail to Comply with Probation Order
• Fail to Comply with Undertaking
The accused was transferred to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was held for bail. He has since be released with a scheduled court date of February 9, 2026.
