The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.
Arrest, Warrants – CK26001129
Date: January 6, 2026, Time: 08:17 hrs., Location: Princess Street North, Chatham
On May 12, 2025, at approximately 18:13 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of an assault on Murray Street, Chatham (CK25027471).
Investigations revealed that a 72-year-old male accused from Chatham-Kent physically assaulted a 59-year-old female victim from Chatham and injured her. The victim sustained injuries to her face, which required transportation to the hospital for medical treatment. The accused left the scene prior to the arrival of officers.
As a result, officers formed reasonable grounds to charge the accused with the following offence:
- Count 1: Assault Causing Bodily Harm
The accused was arrested on May 13, 2025, and failed to attend court on two separate occasions. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
On January 6, 2026, at approximately 08:17 hrs, the accused was located on Princess Street North, Chatham. He was arrested on the strength of an outstanding bench warrant.
He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and subsequently transported to the South West Detention Centre (SWDC), where he will remain in custody until his next scheduled video court appearance on January 9, 2026.
Arrest, Warrants – CK26001261
Date: January 6, 2026, Time: 16:12 hrs., Location: Lorne Avenue, Wallaceburg
On December 23, 2025, at 12:17 hrs, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a residential fire at a home on Brock Street in Wallaceburg (CK25076995).
Through investigations, police learned that the homeowner, a 62-year-old male from Wallaceburg was not present when the fire began.
Through the use of surveillance footage, a 63-year-old female from Wallaceburg was identified. Police formed reasonable grounds to charge the accused with the following offence:
- Count 1: Arson – Damage to Property
A warrant was issued for her arrest (CK25076995).
On January 6, 2026, at approximately 16:12 hrs, the accused was located on Lorne Avenue, Wallaceburg by Chatham-Kent Police Service Officers. She was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant for arson and was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where she was released with conditions and scheduled court date of February 12, 2026.
